Film set catering in Curbridge, fried fresh

A chip van fits right in at seaside locations. We are frequently asked to cater lunch at the unit base and crew treats on long shoot days, with haddock and chips, mushy peas and pie and chips.

Around Curbridge, locations can be rural. Tell us about the route to base. Food is served straight from the hatch, so every portion is hot, and the queue keeps moving.

Takeaway run or book a van?

Some hosts try a takeaway order. The problem is timing: big orders take a long time, and the food is cooling while it travels. A van solves that by cooking on site.

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For bigger numbers, a van makes life easier, and nobody has to miss the shoot.

What a fish and chip van costs

Two events with the same numbers can cost different amounts, because of:

  • The minimum booking
  • Distance and any road charges
  • How easy the site is to reach
  • How long we serve

Cost depends on numbers, menu and service time, plus travel and access. We quote for each booking individually.

What we need to know

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • Access details such as gates and narrow lanes
  • The date and time of the event
  • The spot you have in mind for the van
  • Dietary needs, with numbers

Thinking about a fish and chip van for the crew for your shoot in Curbridge? Send us the details and we’ll reply with a clear price. Just fill in our quote form.

Allergies and dietary needs

Nearly every event has some special diets. To look after them:

  • Have a back-up for special diets
  • Tell us about coeliac crew specifically
  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Plan bins and waste at base

Fewer choices mean faster service in a lunch break.

A quick pre-order speeds things up.

Why choose a fish and chip van in Curbridge?

A full location catering unit suits long shoots with three meals a day. A chip van suits short shoots and treat days. Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest how to make it work. Keeping the menu short is usually the best value.

Why us?

  • We cover Curbridge and the whole of Hampshire
  • Cod, haddock, sausages and pies
  • Nothing for you to cook or clear
  • The classic sides: peas, curry sauce and gravy

Before you choose a spot

The right spot keeps everyone safe and the service smooth. We need:

  • A clear route to base
  • Agreement from the location manager and landowner
  • Light near the van if needed

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.

What we serve

  • Pie and chips
  • Mushy peas
  • Sausage and chips

What happens on the day

We get there well before service, park the van and get the fryers going. Crew generally gather round the hatch as soon as we open. Daylight is short on winter shoots near Curbridge: sunset is about 4:00pm, so lunch at base is frequently in daylight but a wrap meal isn’t.

  1. You share your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check access for the van and quote.
  3. We arrive early to park and heat the fryers.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

Preparing for the day

  • Clear the route for the van
  • Get permission for the van from the venue
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day

Crew catering near Curbridge

Curbridge is about 3 miles east of Hedge End, in Hampshire. We take a fish and chip van for the crew to drives, car parks, yards and venues around Curbridge and nearby villages. We take the van to 683 places across Hampshire, from the larger towns to small villages. Our bookings stretch from Curbridge to Southampton (about 7 miles away).

Curbridge is roughly 65 miles from central London. With the sea within about 5 miles, coastal shoots need a sheltered base, so plan where crew will queue.

For shoots in SO30, we just need to know where the van can park and a serving time. Common questions in Curbridge

Can you serve near the sea around Curbridge?

Yes, of course. The cooking is inside the van, so wind doesn’t affect it, but the queue will want shelter.

Which station is closest to Curbridge?

Botley station, about 1.2 miles north-west of the centre.

Do we need to provide anything?

A suitable spot for the van and permission to park there. Mention any power or water available and we’ll take it from there.

What paperwork do you provide?

Every production asks for different things, so send us the list.

Can the van park on the street?

It depends on the road. A drive, car park or yard is typically easier; for the street, check the council’s rules.

Do we need to provide equipment?

All the cooking happens in the van. Let us know what’s available at the site and we’ll confirm what we need.

Do you have allergen information?

We provide allergen information for everything we serve. Battered fish contains fish and, in standard batter, gluten. Send us any allergies in writing.

Is grass a problem?

Often, if the ground is firm and dry. Soft, wet ground can trap any vehicle, so have a hard-surface back-up.
