Funeral and wake catering, fried fresh on the day
After a funeral, people want somewhere to gather, a hot cup of tea and something comforting to eat. For many families, fish and chips is exactly that, and sometimes it was the favourite meal of the person being remembered.
We keep it calm and simple. We arrive at the agreed time, park discreetly, and serve when you’re ready, at home, at a village hall or club, or at a venue with space outside. We understand that timings on the day can move, and we’ll work around the service and the family.

How it works
- You, or your funeral director, tell us the date, where the wake will be and roughly how many people.
- We check the spot for the van and send a quote.
- We agree a time to arrive and when food should be ready, allowing for the service running over.
- On the day we set up quietly and serve when guests are ready.
- We pack up when everyone has eaten and leave quietly.
Short notice
Funerals are often arranged within a couple of weeks. Get in touch as soon as you have a date and we’ll tell you straight away whether we’re available.
Working with the funeral director
If it helps, your funeral director or a family friend can deal with us directly, so you don’t have to.

A fish and chip van compared with other event catering
| Option | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Fish and chip van | Fried to order and served hot; a menu almost everyone likes; no kitchen needed | Needs a level, firm spot the van can reach |
| Hog roast | Popular for big outdoor events | One main dish; harder for guests who don’t eat pork |
| Barbecue | Casual and familiar | Food comes off in batches; someone has to cook it |
| Cold buffet | Simple; no vehicle access needed | Food sits out; nothing hot on a cold evening |
| Plated meal | Formal and traditional | Needs a kitchen, more staff and usually costs more per head |
What your quote should include
- What’s on the menu, and how many choices
- How long service runs, and what happens if you overrun
- Any minimum charge
- Travel, parking and any charges such as ULEZ
- Whether VAT is included
- What the van needs: space, access, power
- How allergens are handled
