Wedding fish and chip van, fried fresh on the day

A fish and chip van is one of the most popular choices for evening wedding food. By nine o’clock, guests who ate the wedding breakfast at four are hungry again, and evening guests may not have eaten at all. Hot fish and chips from the hatch hits the spot in a way a cold buffet rarely does.

It also makes a lovely moment in the day. The van parks up near the marquee or barn, the smell drifts across, and guests wander out to queue and chat. We agree the timing with you and your venue so service fits around the first dance, the cake and the band’s breaks.

How it works

  1. You tell us your date, venue, rough numbers and when you’d like the food served.
  2. We check the venue and the date, then send a quote.
  3. We agree arrival and serving times with you and your venue coordinator.
  4. On the day we set up in good time and fry fresh for your guests at the agreed time.
  5. We pack up when service is finished, leaving the pitch tidy.

Timings on the day

Evening food usually goes out between about 8pm and 9:30pm, after the first dance and before the party really gets going. Tell us your running order and we’ll fit around it, and keep in touch with your venue on the day.

Venue rules

Many wedding venues have rules on outside caterers and vehicles. Check with your venue early and pass on anything they ask for, such as where the van can park and when it can arrive.

Wedding fish and chip van: questions

Can you do our evening wedding food?

Yes. Evening food is the most common wedding booking for a fish and chip van. Tell us your date and venue.

Does every guest need to eat?

Not always. Many couples cater for most, not all, of the evening guest list, because some guests won’t eat. We’ll talk it through when we quote.

Can the van park next to the marquee?

Often, yes, if the ground is firm and the venue agrees. We’ll check access and where the van can go.

What if it rains?

We cook inside the van, so rain doesn’t stop the fryers. Guests may want a covered route or gazebo near the hatch; talk to your venue about it.

Where do you take the van?

Across London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight. Find your area.

How do I get a quote?

Send us your date, venue or postcode, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat through our quote form, and we’ll reply with a price.
