Fresh fish and chips in Firgo

About our film set catering in Firgo

Call times change, so give us a contact on the day and we will adjust where we can. For event crews and end-of-shoot parties, we’ll put together a menu of cod and chips, sausage and chips and pie and chips and more.

Near Firgo, crews may be miles from anywhere to eat, so a van at base is a big help. You’ll know what’s included before booking: the date, the service time and the menu, with no surprises on the day.

What happens on the day

We need time before service to bring the fryers up to heat, so we are there in good time before you want to eat. At midsummer, Firgo has light until about 9:25pm.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check access for the van and quote.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. Everything is fried to order as the queue moves.
  5. We serve hot from the hatch and pack up when we’re done.

Takeaway run or book a van?

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. We are happy to send a quote so you can compare.

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For bigger numbers, a van makes life easier, and you get to enjoy the day.

Mushy peas

Proper mushy peas start with dried marrowfat peas. They’re the side most people expect.

Cod and chips

For many people, cod and chips is the definitive version. Cooked fresh at the hatch, it’s hot, crisp and generous.

A fish and chip van or other catering?

Some locations have nowhere to buy food. The van solves that. Distance and any road charges make a difference, so tell us exactly where your shoot is.

FAQs for Firgo

Is Firgo too small for a chip van?

Not at all. We serve villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Which station is closest to Firgo?

Whitchurch (Hampshire) station, about 2.4 miles north of the centre.

Can you work to the call sheet?

We expect changes. A contact on the day is all we need.

What’s on the menu?

Fish and chips, of course, with sausages and pies for anyone who does not want fish. The sides are mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy.

Do you fry it on site?

Yes. We cook inside the van, so food is cooked there and then, rather than made in advance.

Who clears up?

We take the van and everything with it, and leave the spot tidy. Bins for crew are worth planning.

Can you feed supporting artists too?

Yes. Just tell us who counts.

Do you cover Firgo?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Firgo is within our area. For a quote, use our quote form.

Choosing a fish and chip van

What a fish and chip van costs

Each booking is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Service time
  • Whether a minimum applies
  • Cod, haddock or both
  • How many people are eating

Fish and chip van prices depend on the booking. A short service and a long afternoon’s trading are very different bookings. Your quote spells it all out.

What to tell us

To check availability and price, we need:

  • The spot you have in mind for the van
  • The venue or postcode
  • Rough numbers for adults and children
  • Dietary needs, with numbers

Every booking is quoted individually, based on your numbers, timings and travel. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

Before you choose a spot

We will agree the van’s spot with you before the day. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • Lighting for early or late service
  • A route in the van can manage, with no low branches or tight lanes
  • Clear of the shot and sound

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

  • Ask for dietary needs on the crew info form
  • Send the unit base address and directions
  • Let us know about coeliac disease
  • Confirm allergies by email
