Fresh fish and chips in Fleet

Film set catering in Fleet, cooked to order

Everything is cooked as crew come up, so it is hot when the break is called. Whether it’s outside broadcasts and stills shoots, we’ll put together a menu of pie and chips, mushy peas and cod and chips and more.

For a shoot in Fleet, tell us where base is and how to reach it, and we’ll plan the route. We keep the menu short: a few classics done properly keeps the food fresh and the queue moving.

For event organisers in Fleet

Planning an event for a club, school or charity in Fleet? A fish and chip van draws people in and almost everyone likes it. Tell us about the event and we will take it from there.

Many venues set rules for catering vans: where a van can park, access times and the paperwork they want. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will confirm what we can provide.

Why fried-to-order beats a buffet

A wrap party at a venue costs more. A van makes a relaxed wrap. Compared with a sit-down meal, a fish and chip van is often good value, because it needs no kitchen and no crockery hire. Ask us for a quote.

What you get with us

  • A clear quote before you book
  • The classic sides: peas, curry sauce and gravy
  • A menu almost everyone likes
  • Fried fresh, not kept warm

See our prices page and our guide to van hire costs.

What happens on the day

We arrive in good time before you want to eat, set up and bring the oil up to temperature. Your crew can wander over to the hatch as soon as we open. Daylight is short on winter shoots near Fleet: sunset is about 3:55pm, so lunch at base is often in daylight but a wrap meal isn’t.

  1. Start with three things: the date, the place and a rough headcount.
  2. Show us where the van would go, and we will confirm it works.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm the arrival time and serving time.
  4. The van rolls up, the hatch opens and the fryers get going for the crew.
  5. Once the last portion is out, we pack up and go.

Choosing a fish and chip van

Food your guests will love

Curry sauce

Curry sauce divides opinion and it is on the menu.

Gravy

Chips and gravy is a favourite in the north and the Midlands, and it goes perfectly with a pie.

Should I sort the food myself?

Collecting fish and chips for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is hard work. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. With a van, it’s fried on the spot.

Ordering from a local shop? Call ahead and collect at the last minute. For anything more than a handful of people, a van is normally the easier option.

Fleet questions

How far is Fleet from London?

About 36 miles from central London.

Could you trade in Oakley Park?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

Do you have documents for productions?

Productions vary, so send us the list and we’ll go through it.

Do we need to provide equipment?

All the cooking happens in the van. Tell us about power, water and bins at the site and we’ll confirm what we need.

How long are you on site?

It depends on numbers and the service time. We agree arrival, serving and finishing times with you before the day.

Is grass a problem?

Often, if the ground is firm and dry. After heavy rain, soft grass can be a problem for any vehicle, so have a hard-surface back-up.

What areas do you cover?

London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

What does it cost to hire the van?

Every booking is quoted individually, so the price fits what you need. Give us your date, numbers and serving time and we will reply with a price.

Allergies and dietary needs

Dietary needs are easiest to plan with some notice. Our advice:

  • Let us know about coeliac disease
  • Put allergy details in writing
  • Agree the waste plan with locations
  • Send the unit base address and directions

We take our used oil and waste with us.

A gazebo by the van keeps the line dry.

What the van needs

If a spot isn’t suitable, we’ll tell you, and help find another. The main points are:

  • Agreement from the location manager and landowner
  • Light near the van if needed
  • Clear of the shot and sound

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.
