Book the van in Stonehill

Film set catering for your shoot in Stonehill

On a long shoot day, a good hot lunch keeps morale up. We park at the unit base and cook to order. For location shoots and treat days on a long shoot, we can cook cod and chips, haddock and chips and mushy peas for your guests.

Near Stonehill, crews may be miles from anywhere to eat, so a van at base is a big help. Everything is fried fresh at your shoot, not cooked earlier and kept warm, and served the moment it comes out of the fryer.

Why fried-to-order beats a buffet

A full location catering unit suits long shoots with three meals a day. A chip van suits short shoots and treat days. A chip van often compares well with a plated meal, as there is no kitchen to hire and nothing to wash up. Ask us for a quote.

Why book with us

  • Events in Stonehill and across Surrey
  • Cod, haddock, sausages and pies
  • Works on wet days as well as sunny ones
  • Nothing for you to cook or clear

Read our prices page and the cost guide.

How it works

Because we cook inside the van, rain doesn’t stop us. Crew will still appreciate a bit of cover near the hatch. At midsummer, Stonehill has light until about 9:20pm, while by late September it is nearer 7:05pm.

  1. You share your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check access for the van and quote.
  3. We arrive early to park and heat the fryers.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

Before we arrive

  • Arrange somewhere dry for the queue
  • Pick a flat, firm place for the van to park
  • Clear the route for the van

Common questions in Stonehill

Do you come out to small places like Stonehill?

Not at all. We serve villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Could you trade in Gracious Pond?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

What’s on the menu?

Proper fish and chips, plus sausage or pie and chips. Mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy go on the side.

Can you go on a lawn or field?

It depends on the ground. Let us know what the ground is like, and we’ll advise.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Of course. Sausage and chips is a favourite with children. Include children in your numbers.

Can the van come to our wrap?

Yes, and crews love it. Tell us the details.

What areas do you cover?

We take the van across London and the South East, including Surrey. See all areas.

Do we need to provide anything?

Somewhere suitable to park, with permission. Tell us whether there’s power or water nearby and we’ll confirm the rest.

Where the van can park in Stonehill

Planners, venues and businesses

Parks, greens and streets generally need permission for a catering van. Ask the council or landowner early.

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers and vehicles: parking spots, arrival times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work through them with you.

The menu, dish by dish

Curry sauce

Curry sauce divides opinion and it’s on the menu.

Cod and chips

Cod and chips is the meal most people picture when they think of a chip shop. Cooked fresh at the hatch, it goes out hot and crisp.

Occasions we serve in Stonehill

How to compare vans

Should I sort the food myself?

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For larger numbers, or when you want hot food, a van takes the pressure off, and nobody has to miss the shoot.

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. Ask us for a quote and compare.
