Film set catering in Ware, fried fresh

Locations and the production office can deal with us directly. On the menu are pie and chips, haddock and chips and mushy peas, and we are regularly asked to cater commercials and music videos and location filming.

For a shoot in a place like Ware, tracks and soft ground need checking with locations. Everything is fried fresh at your shoot, never cooked in advance and left in a hot cabinet, and served the moment it comes out of the fryer.

Before you choose a spot

A fish and chip van is a vehicle, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way. These are the things we check:

  • Level, firm ground at base
  • Agreement from the location manager and landowner
  • Far enough from set to keep noise down

Not sure about the spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Mushy peas

Mushy peas are a must for plenty of fish and chip fans.

Sausage and chips

For anyone who doesn’t fancy fish, there is sausage and chips, and it’s a favourite with children.

Takeaway run or book a van?

If you do order from a chip shop, ring well ahead and collect as close to eating time as you can. For a crowd, a van is generally simpler.

For a small group, making your own food can work. For larger numbers, or when you want hot food, a van takes the pressure off, and you get to enjoy the day.

Looking after everyone

Tell us about dietary needs and allergies early, and we’ll be straight with you about what’s possible. To get it right:

  • Collect diets and allergies with crew details
  • Update numbers if they change
  • Flag any coeliac crew
  • Plan an alternative for anyone we can’t cater for

We set up at the unit base ahead of lunch.

Cover near the hatch helps on wet days.

For planners, venues and organisers

For big groups, the service window matters, so we can plan how to keep the queue short. Sending people up in groups helps.

If your event is in a public place, such as a park or a street, check what permission you need first. The council or landowner will tell you what they need.

Why choose a fish and chip van in Ware?

Many locations are miles from shops. The van solves that. Many fish and chip vans set a minimum, since getting the van there costs the same however many eat. We’ll tell you up front.

Why us?

  • Something for crew to gather round
  • A clear quote before booking
  • Quick service from the hatch
  • No kitchen needed

See our pricing or our guide to van hire costs.

How it works

On the day, we park up on the agreed spot, set up and heat the fryers. Then everything is fried to order, timed around your shoot. At midsummer, Ware has light until about 9:15pm.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the route in and send a price.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. Everything is fried to order as the queue moves.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

How to prepare

  • Check the venue or landowner is happy for the van to park
  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Keep space clear for crew at the hatch
