Fish and chip van for events for Hindhead events

Should I sort the food myself?

Deep-frying for lots of people at home is risky: big pans of hot oil, children and garden parties don’t mix. A van is designed for exactly this.

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For larger numbers, or when you want hot food, a van takes the pressure off, and you get to enjoy the day.

About our fish and chip van for events in Hindhead

When there’s hot food, people stay longer. For sports days and community festivals, we can cook cod and chips, sausage and chips and curry sauce for your guests.

For a village fête or field event near Hindhead, a chip van brings hot food to a rural site. Tell us about the ground and the way in. You will know what’s included before you book: serving times, the menu and anything else agreed.

Planning the van’s spot

We will agree the van’s spot with you before the day. It needs to tick a few simple boxes:

  • Room in front of the hatch for a queue that does not block walkways
  • A back-up spot if the ground is soft
  • What’s available on the pitch

Not sure about the spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What happens on the day

The van needs a level, firm spot it can drive onto, close to where people will eat, and we agree exactly where before the day. For an evening event in Hindhead, sunset is about 8:55pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June; after that, the pitch needs good lighting.

  1. Organisers send us the event, the dates and the pitch details.
  2. We confirm the date, what we need on the pitch and any documents.
  3. On the day, we arrive and set up our pitch.
  4. We cook fresh and serve through the day.
  5. At the end, we pack up and leave the pitch tidy.

How to prepare

  • Choose a level, firm spot for the van
  • Get permission for the van from the venue
  • Tell us when you want to eat

Prices and what affects them

Each booking is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Peak dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Travel, tolls and road charges
  • The minimum booking
  • How many people are eating

Many fish and chip vans set a minimum, because the van, fuel and travel cost the same for a small group. We’ll tell you up front.

What we need to know

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Rough numbers for adults and children
  • Allergies and diets you know about
  • The spot you have in mind for the van
  • Access details such as gates and narrow lanes

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote: the parking spot, access, numbers and serving time. A picture of the spot helps too. To send your details, use our quote form.

Diets, allergies and planning

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Plan something for visitors we cannot cater for
  • Display allergens for each stall
  • Give us an idea of numbers
  • Send us the pitch size and ground conditions

We arrive before the gates open to set up on the pitch, at the agreed time.

Pre-selling meal tickets helps us plan.
