When there is hot food, people stay longer, which is good for every other stall. Whether it’s school summer fairs and club open days, we will put together a menu of mushy peas, haddock and chips and cod and chips for your guests.

Planning the van’s spot

We’ll agree the van’s spot with you before the day. It needs to tick a few simple boxes:

  • A level, firm pitch the van can drive onto
  • The landowner’s or organiser’s permission for the van
  • Information about power and water

Not sure about the spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.

How it works

We arrive on time, pulls onto the spot you’ve chosen. When the fryers are up to heat, service starts at the time you asked for. December events in Newfound lose the light at about 4:00pm, so pitches need lighting; in late May there’s light until about 8:55pm.

  1. It starts with your event and pitch details.
  2. We confirm availability, our pitch needs and anything the event asks for.
  3. On the day, we arrive and set up our pitch.
  4. We fry to order and serve from the hatch through the event.
  5. At the end, we pack up and leave the pitch tidy.

FAQs for Newfound

Is Newfound close to London?

About 49 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Is Newfound too small for a chip van?

Not at all. We serve villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

What if the weather’s bad?

The weather doesn’t stop the van, because the fryers are inside. Soft ground after heavy rain is the bigger issue, so have a hard-surface spot in mind.

What’s on the menu?

Chip-shop favourites: cod or haddock and chips, sausages and pies, plus mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy. See the menu.

Can you feed our volunteers and crew?

Yes, at a time that suits your schedule.

Can the van come to our fair?

Send us the event details, dates and pitch information and we’ll let you know if we are available.

What about visitors who do not eat fish?

We serve sausages and pies as well as fish. Tell us about other diets and we will be honest about what’s possible.

Can you park on the road outside?

Only in a legal space, or with the council’s permission. Ask your council early.

A chip van compared with other options

One good hot-food van can be enough at a smaller event, with cakes and teas alongside. Comparing vans? Look at what each quote includes: hours, menu, travel, minimum charge and VAT. We set ours out clearly.

Allergies and dietary needs

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. Here are a few tips:

  • Tell us about any school or event allergy policies
  • Give us an idea of numbers
  • Have other stalls for special diets
  • Agree the terms in writing

If we are feeding volunteers, agree a time that suits the schedule.

A clear route for the van before the gates open avoids problems.
