Fish and chip van hire in Ellisfield
Fish and chip van hire in Ellisfield, fried fresh
Fish and chips is generous food: big pieces of fish, crisp batter and a mountain of chips. It makes the food a talking point. We are often asked to cater company team days and weddings and evening receptions, serving mushy peas, sausage and chips and gravy.
Somewhere as small as Ellisfield, a field, yard or drive is often the spot. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we’ll plan for them, and firm ground matters more than anything. Timings are planned around your event, so the food is ready when you want to eat.
Food your guests will love
Pie and chips
For a heartier option, there’s pie and chips.
Gravy
Chips and gravy is a favourite in the north and the Midlands, and it goes perfectly with a pie.
Ellisfield: your questions answered
Which station is closest to Ellisfield?
The closest is Basingstoke station, roughly 4.2 miles away.
Is Ellisfield close to London?
Roughly 47 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.
Can you go on a lawn or field?
It depends on the ground. Let us know what the ground is like, and send a photo if you can.
Do you take everything away?
We pack up and leave the pitch tidy when service is finished. Tell us where bins can go for people’s paper and trays.
What happens when we hire the van?
We bring the van to your event, set up, heat the fryers and cook to order, serving from the hatch at the time you choose.
How much space do you need?
Less than you might think: a drive, a car park, a yard or a firm lawn, with a clear way in. If in doubt, send a picture.
Do you have allergen information?
Yes, we can tell you which allergens are in each item. Battered fish contains fish and, in standard batter, gluten. Send us any allergies in writing.
When should we book?
As early as you can, especially for summer weekends and December. Even at short notice, it’s worth asking.
The process
The van turns up at the agreed time, pulls onto the spot you’ve chosen. Once the oil is hot, the first portions go out at the time you asked for. Late September evenings in Ellisfield lose the light at about 7:10pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 4:00pm. For anything after that, plan lights for the queue.
- You share your date, numbers and address.
- We check access for the van and quote.
- We arrive in good time to set up.
- Everything is fried to order as the queue moves.
- Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.
Before we arrive
- Confirm the van is allowed on site
- Let us know the serving time
- Have a level parking spot ready
How to get a price
We only need a few details to quote: the date, where the van would park, roughly how many people and when you’d like to eat. To send them, fill in our quote form.
Planning help
Should I sort the food myself?
Ordering in from a local chip shop is an option. The problem is timing: big orders take a long time, and the food is cooling while it travels. A van cooks in front of your guests instead.
For a small group, making your own food can work. For larger numbers, or when you want hot food, a van takes the pressure off, and you get to enjoy the day.
Before you choose a spot
Every site is different, so we’ll ask about yours before we confirm. Generally, we look for:
- Lighting nearby for evening events
- A short walk from the party
- Flat, firm ground for the van
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.
What we serve
- Chips
- Gravy
- Curry sauce
- Sausage and chips
- Pie and chips
- Cod and chips
- Haddock and chips
- Mushy peas
Looking after everyone
Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:
- Confirm allergies by email
- Collect allergies with your RSVPs
- Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
- Let us know numbers for vegetarians and vegans
The fryers take a little while to heat, so we arrive well before service. If plans change, tell us and we will adjust.
Bunting or festoon lights around the van make it part of the decorations.
A chip van compared with other options
Next to a hog roast, a fish and chip van gives people a choice of fish, sausage or pie, which suits guests who don’t eat pork. There’s no one-size-fits-all price for a fish and chip van. A one-hour staff lunch is a different job from serving all afternoon at a fête. We set everything out in your quote.
What you get with us
- Quick service from the hatch
- A quote that spells everything out
- Everything cooked to order at your event
- Cod, haddock, sausages and pies
