Fish and chip van hire for Frensham events

Fish and chip van hire in Frensham, fried fresh

Fish and chip van hire means the chip shop comes to you. We park up, heat the fryers and cook to order, so every portion goes out hot and crisp. We are often asked to cater gatherings after a funeral and Fêtes, fairs and school events, serving sausage and chips, cod and chips and haddock and chips.

In a hamlet or village like Frensham, a farmyard or a neighbour’s field can make a good pitch. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. The menu is short on purpose: fewer choices means fresher food and shorter queues.

Allergies and dietary needs

With a little notice, diets are easier to plan for. Our advice:

  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Mention any vegetarian or vegan guests
  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs
  • Confirm allergies by email

You shouldn’t have to worry about the food on the day. We park, set up, fry and serve, and stay in touch about any changes.

A gazebo by the van keeps the queue dry.

Frensham questions

Can the van park in The Flashes?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

Do you come to venues in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles and ground, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

Where can the van park?

Not much: a hard surface or firm, dry grass, that the van can reach easily. Send us a photo if you are not sure.

What if the weather’s bad?

Rain doesn’t stop the fryers: the cooking is inside the van. Guests will appreciate cover near the hatch.

Can coeliacs eat the battered fish?

Our battered fish contains gluten, because standard batter uses wheat flour. Tell us about coeliac guests when you enquire, and we will tell you honestly what we can offer.

Which areas do you serve?

We cover London and the South East, Surrey included. See all areas.

When should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends and December. Even at short notice, it’s worth asking.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Yes, children are easy to cater for. Tell us how many children, and we will include them in the plan.

A chip van compared with other options

Compared with a hog roast, a fish and chip van gives people a choice of fish, sausage or pie, which helps if some guests do not eat pork. There is no one-size-fits-all price for a fish and chip van. A one-hour staff lunch is a different job from serving all afternoon at a fête. We set everything out in your quote.

Why book with us

  • We cover Frensham and the whole of Surrey
  • Nothing for you to cook or clear
  • No surprises in your quote
  • Served hot, straight from the hatch

Planners, venues and businesses

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers and vehicles: where a van can park, access times and the paperwork they want. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll work through them with you.

Parks, greens and streets normally need permission for a catering van. The council or landowner will tell you what they need.

How it works

Expect a friendly, organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, park on the agreed spot, and get on with frying and serving. Around midsummer it stays light in Frensham until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are usually served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 4:00pm, the van and the queue need lighting.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. We check the date and where the van will park, then send a quote.
  3. We agree timings, access and the parking spot.
  4. On the day, we park up and fry fresh for your guests.
  5. Everything goes out hot from the hatch, and we pack up afterwards.

How we price a fish and chip van

Each booking is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • How long we serve
  • Numbers
  • Your choice of menu
  • Any minimum charge

Comparing vans? Look at what each quote includes: service time, menu, travel, any minimum and VAT. We set ours out clearly.

Should I sort the food myself?

Frying for a crowd at home is not a good idea: big pans of hot oil, children and garden parties do not mix. A van is designed for exactly this.

Collecting fish and chips for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is hard work. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. With a van, it is fried on the spot.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
