About our fish and chip van hire in Harbridge

A fish and chip van works almost anywhere the van can park: a drive, a car park, a yard, a showground or a firm lawn. On the menu are sausage and chips, gravy and curry sauce, and we’re often booked for weddings, especially the evening and community events and fairs.

For a rural spot like Harbridge, the setting does a lot of the work. Tell us about gates, tracks and the ground. Everything is fried fresh at your event, not cooked earlier and kept warm.

For planners, venues and organisers

Many venues set rules for catering vans: where a van can park, access times and the paperwork they want. Tell us what your venue needs and we will confirm what we can provide.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

Should I sort the food myself?

Ordering from a local shop? Call ahead and collect at the last minute. For a crowd, a van is normally simpler.

Weighing up a takeaway order against booking a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. Ask us for a quote and compare.

How we price a fish and chip van

There are no hidden charges: the price is based on:

  • The minimum booking
  • The length of service
  • Peak dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Distance and any road charges

When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: hours, menu, travel, minimum charge and VAT. We set ours out clearly.

What we need to know

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • Where the event is
  • The date and time of the event
  • Expected numbers
  • The spot you have in mind for the van

Still finalising the details? No problem: tell us the basics about your event, and we’ll firm it up nearer the time. Start when you’re ready: send us your details through our quote form.

Diets, allergies and planning

Dietary needs are easiest to plan with some notice. We suggest:

  • Have a back-up for anyone who cannot eat from the van
  • Confirm allergies by email
  • Fewer choices mean faster service
  • Put bins and napkins by the van

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We arrive in good time, set up, cook and serve, and stay in touch about any changes.

Tables or benches nearby help people eat comfortably.

Why choose a fish and chip van in Harbridge?

With a barbecue, somebody ends up cooking all afternoon. With a van, the host gets to enjoy the day. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll suggest how to make it work. A short menu is frequently the best value.

Why book our van in Harbridge

  • Fish and chips fried fresh on site
  • A quote that spells everything out
  • We cook inside the van, whatever the weather
  • Cod, haddock, sausages and pies

Take a look at our pricing or our guide to van hire costs.

How it works

We don’t cook ahead. Each portion is battered and fried as it is ordered, so it is as fresh as from any chip shop. Around midsummer it stays light in Harbridge until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening events are usually served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:05pm, so winter events need lighting by the van.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check access for the van and quote.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. We serve hot from the hatch and pack up when we’re done.

Preparing for the day

  • Choose a level, firm spot for the van
  • Confirm the van is allowed on site
  • Let us know the serving time

Common questions in Harbridge

Is Harbridge too small for a chip van?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

Can the van go to venues in the New Forest National Park?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles and ground, so check with yours. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

Where do you take the van?

London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, including Harbridge.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We take the van and everything with it, and leave the spot tidy. Bins for guests are worth planning.

Can the van park on the street?

Only in a legal space, or with the council’s permission. Ask your council early.

What’s on the menu?

Fish and chips, of course, plus sausage or pie and chips. Mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy go on the side.

Can you cater for allergies?

Let us know about allergies in advance, and we’ll give you the allergen information.

What if the weather’s bad?

We cook inside the van, so rain doesn’t stop us. Guests will appreciate cover near the hatch.

Space, access and the venue

The right spot keeps everyone safe and the service smooth. We need:

  • Somewhere close to where people will eat
  • Access wide and high enough for the van
  • The site’s agreement to a catering van

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.
