For event organisers in Warnford

Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers and vehicles: where a van can park, access times and the paperwork they want. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll work through them with you.

If you’re booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we’ll talk you through the process. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on parking and timings.

How our fish and chip van hire works in Warnford

If the van can park there, we can fry there: a drive, a car park, a yard, a showground or a firm lawn in and around Warnford. Typical bookings include garden parties and summer get-togethers and community events and fairs, with curry sauce, gravy and sausage and chips.

In a hamlet or village like Warnford, a farmyard or a neighbour’s field can make a good pitch. Mention gates and soft ground when you get in touch. Food is served straight from the hatch, so every portion is hot, and service is quick once we are up and running.

Battered fish and chips with a pot of curry sauce

Food your guests will love

Haddock and chips

Haddock has a slightly sweeter flavour and a firmer flake. It’s the traditional favourite in Scotland and much of the north.

Curry sauce

Some people will not eat chips without curry sauce, so we bring it along.

A chip van compared with other options

A cold buffet is simple, but food sits out, and nothing’s hot on a cool evening. Fish and chips is fried to order and served hot. Many fish and chip vans set a minimum, because the van, fuel and travel cost the same for a small group. We will tell you up front.

Why book with us

  • A clear quote before booking
  • Nothing for you to cook or clear
  • Rain does not stop the fryers
  • We cover Warnford and the whole of Hampshire

See how we price and what a fish and chip van costs.

Allergies and dietary needs

We take allergies seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Have a back-up for anyone who cannot eat from the van
  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs
  • Mention any vegetarian or vegan guests
  • A short menu helps everyone

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We park, set up, fry and serve, and stay in touch about any changes.

Somewhere to sit or lean makes fish and chips easier to eat.

What a fish and chip van costs

The same numbers can mean different prices, depending on:

  • Any minimum charge
  • Cod, haddock or both
  • How far we travel
  • Access and parking

Larger groups normally cost less per head, because the van, travel and set-up cost much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

What we need to know

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • A picture of where the van would go
  • Anything awkward about the way in
  • Roughly how many people, including children

We quote for each event separately, based on your numbers, timings and travel. To ask for one, send us your details through our quote form.

Warnford questions

Can you serve after a service at Church of Our Lady?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with somewhere for the van. Churches rarely have space for a catering van, so the food is typically elsewhere. Tell us where you will gather.

Do you come out to small places like Warnford?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

What happens when we hire the van?

The van parks at your venue, we fry fresh and serve from the hatch.

Can we choose cod or haddock?

Both are on our menu; tell us which you’d like for your event.

Can you serve children?

Children are very welcome. Let us know numbers, and we’ll include them in the plan.

Do you take everything away?

We take the van and everything with it, and leave the spot tidy. It helps to have bins near the hatch.

Does the batter contain gluten?

No, not as standard: batter is usually made with wheat flour. Tell us about any coeliac guests and we will explain the options before you book.

Do you do anything other than fish?

There is: sausage and chips or pie and chips. Give us a rough idea of numbers.

The process

You will know we are ready when the smell of frying drifts over, about the time the first guests wander across. From then on, people come up as they’re ready. Around midsummer it stays light in Warnford until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting by the van.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We check the date and where the van will park, then send a quote.
  3. Timings and the van’s spot are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we park up and fry fresh for your guests.
  5. We serve from the hatch, then leave the pitch tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Give us your final numbers and allergies
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Have a level parking spot ready

Cannot we just order from the chip shop?

Ordering from a local shop? Call ahead and collect at the last minute. For a crowd, a van is generally simpler.

Doing the food yourself saves money, but the host ends up running around. With a fish and chip van, you get hot food without the work.
