Planning an event in Windsor?

Windsor: your questions answered

Can the van park in Sutherland Grange?

Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Ask them first.

Is Windsor close to London?

Roughly 23 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Do you do anything other than fish?

Yes: sausage and chips or pie and chips. Give us a rough idea of numbers.

Does the batter contain gluten?

Standard batter is made with wheat flour, so battered fish contains gluten. Tell us about coeliac guests when you enquire, and we will tell you honestly what we can offer.

When do you arrive?

It depends on numbers and the service time. We agree arrival, serving and finishing times with you before the day.

Is the food cooked at the event?

Yes. We cook inside the van, so food is cooked there and then, not cooked earlier and kept warm.

Do you take everything away?

We pack up and leave the pitch tidy when service is finished. Tell us where bins can go for people’s paper and trays.

Can you cook in the rain?

The weather doesn’t stop the van, because the cooking happens inside. Very soft ground can be a problem, so plan a back-up spot on a hard surface.

How our fish and chip van hire works in Windsor

Keep it simple, or plan every detail: a van that serves as people arrive, or service at a set time. We will recommend what fits. For festive get-togethers and village fêtes and school fairs, we can cook sausage and chips, gravy and curry sauce for your guests.

Most bookings in a town like Windsor are at homes, halls, clubs and workplaces. Each works well, provided the van can get in and park on level ground. The menu is short on purpose: fewer choices means fresher food and shorter queues.

What a fish and chip van costs

Fish and chip van pricing is simple once we know the basics:

  • Service time
  • Whether a minimum applies
  • The day of the week
  • How many people are eating

Comparing vans? Look at what each quote includes: service time, menu, travel, any minimum and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

Details that help

To speed things up, tell us:

  • How to get in: gates, lanes and ground
  • A photo of the parking spot
  • The spot you have in mind for the van
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

Most quotes start with a few simple details: date, address, numbers and serving time. To send them, use our quote form.

Why fried-to-order beats a buffet

Barbecues cook in batches, and someone has to stand over the grill. With a van, the host gets to enjoy the day. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we will suggest how to make it work. A short menu is frequently the best value.

Why book with us

  • Served hot, straight from the hatch
  • Cod, haddock, sausages and pies
  • No kitchen, no crockery, no washing up
  • No surprises in your quote

Take a look at our pricing or the cost guide.

Space, access and the venue

If a spot isn’t suitable, we’ll tell you, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:

  • Access wide and high enough for the van
  • Lighting nearby for evening events
  • Confirmation that the van can park there

Not sure about the spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Sausage and chips

For anyone who doesn’t fancy fish, there’s sausage and chips, and it is a favourite with children.

Gravy

A pot of gravy turns chips into comfort food.

Diets, allergies and planning

Dietary needs are easiest to plan with some notice. Our advice:

  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Confirm allergies by email
  • Add an allergy question to your invitations
  • Let us know numbers for vegetarians and vegans

After service, we pack up.

Tell people when the van opens.

How it works

When we arrive, we park up on the agreed spot, set up and heat the fryers. Once we are hot, we cook to order, timed around your event. Planning an evening event in Windsor? Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:25pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September; after dark, the queue and the path to the van need good lighting.

  1. You share your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the route in and send a price.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. Everything is fried to order as the queue moves.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

Getting ready for the day

  • Share the timings for the day
  • Think about a gazebo by the van in case of rain
  • Check the way in for low branches, cables and narrow gates
