Fish and chip van hire in Winnall, fried fresh

Fish and chips is generous food: crisp batter, flaky fish and plenty of chips. It makes the food a talking point. On the menu are sausage and chips, mushy peas and curry sauce, and we’re regularly asked to cater staff thank-you lunches and garden parties and summer get-togethers.

Around Winnall, bookings are often at homes, local halls and clubs. If access is tight, we’ll plan around it. Timings are planned around your event, so the food is ready when you want to eat.

How it works

A typical booking goes like this: the van arrives and we set up, the oil comes up to temperature, and food goes out hot when you are ready to eat. In Winnall, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting by the van.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the route in and send a price.
  3. We arrive early to park and heat the fryers.
  4. Everything is fried to order as the queue moves.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

Preparing for the day

  • Think about a gazebo by the van in case of rain
  • Confirm numbers and dietary needs before the day
  • Check the way in for low branches, cables and narrow gates

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. A few tips:

  • Let us know numbers for vegetarians and vegans
  • Arrange an alternative for anyone we can’t cater for
  • Keep the menu short to keep the queue moving
  • Put allergy details in writing

After service, we pack up.

Put the menu up by the hatch so people decide while they wait.

Cannot we just order from the chip shop?

Ordering from a local shop? Call ahead and collect at the last minute. For anything more than a handful of people, a van is generally the easier option.

Deep-frying for lots of people at home is risky: hot oil and a busy party are a bad combination. Leave the frying to a van built for it.

Organising for someone else?

Having the party at home? Send a photo of where the van would park, and we’ll let you know if the van will fit.

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you’re a planner, a facilities manager or an organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It keeps things simple.

A fish and chip van in Winnall: local details

We take the van to all 683 towns and villages in Hampshire, from the larger towns to small villages. We serve events right across the region, from Winnall to Southampton (about 11 miles away).

After a service at Church of St John the Baptist, the van can be waiting at a nearby hall or house. A green space like St. Cross Park is tempting, but a catering van there needs the landowner’s say-so, normally the council’s.

Why choose a fish and chip van in Winnall?

A plated meal needs a kitchen, more staff and generally costs more per head. A fish and chip van needs a level spot and permission to park. The cost per head normally falls as numbers rise, since the van and set-up are much the same for any size. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Why book with us

  • No surprises in your quote
  • We cook inside the van, whatever the weather
  • Served hot, straight from the hatch
