Fresh fish and chips in Coscote

Funeral and wake catering in Coscote, fried fresh

We understand that timings on the day can move, and we will work around the service and the family. Whether it is wakes at a pub or venue with outside space and life celebrations, we can cook mushy peas, pie and chips and haddock and chips and more.

In rural Coscote, home or the hall is usual, with the van in the yard or car park. Everything we need comes with the van, and we pack up and leave the spot as we found it.

Cannot we just order from the chip shop?

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For larger numbers, or when you want hot food, a van takes the pressure off, and nobody has to miss the wake.

If you do order from a chip shop, ring well ahead and collect as close to eating time as you can. For anything more than a handful of people, a van is generally the easier option.

How it works

Here’s how the day usually runs: we arrive, park up and set up, the oil comes up to temperature, and we serve hot from the hatch at the agreed time. In winter, it is dark in Coscote by about 3:55pm, so for an afternoon wake, light near the van and the door helps. In summer, there’s daylight until about 9:25pm.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and roughly how many.
  2. Show us where the van would go, and we’ll confirm it works.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm timings and numbers.
  4. The van rolls up, the hatch opens and the fryers get going for family and friends.
  5. Last portion served, we tidy up and head off.

Before we arrive

  • Think about a gazebo by the van in case of rain
  • Share the timings for the day
  • Confirm the van is allowed on site

Curry sauce

The chip shop’s own curry sauce is mild and a little sweet, perfect with chips or a sausage.

Cod and chips

For many people, cod and chips is the definitive version. Cooked fresh at the hatch, it’s hot, crisp and generous.

A fish and chip van or other catering?

Some venues offer wake menus. A van works at home or at a hall. Compared with a sit-down meal, a fish and chip van is frequently good value, as there’s no kitchen to hire and nothing to wash up. We will send you a quote.
