Wedding fish and chip van in Canons Park, cooked to order

Good evening food keeps people on the dance floor, and fish and chips is generous and warming after a long day. We are often asked to cater weddings in a marquee or garden and relaxed, informal receptions, with mushy peas, haddock and chips and cod and chips.

In Canons Park, parking for suppliers is part of the plan. Many London venues have a loading bay or yard, which suits a chip van well. Food is served straight from the hatch, so it is hot and generous, and service is quick once we’re up and running.

Planning the van’s spot

Plenty of places work for the van, but a few things matter:

  • A level hardstanding, drive or firm lawn
  • Confirmation that the van can park there
  • Room in front of the hatch for a queue

As a London location, Canons Park is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about driveways, yards, car parks or a council parking suspension.

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

From the hatch

  • Curry sauce
  • Sausage and chips
  • Evening fish and chips
  • Haddock and chips
  • Cod and chips
  • Mushy peas

Prices and what affects them

Each booking is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Access and parking
  • How long we serve
  • How many people are eating
  • The day of the week

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we will suggest how to make it work. A short menu is frequently the best value.

What we need to know

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Access details such as gates and narrow lanes
  • The venue or postcode
  • A photo of the parking spot
  • Dietary needs, with numbers

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many people, along with your serving time, and you’ll get a clear price. To get started, send us your details through our quote form.

How it works

Serving is straightforward: food goes from the fryer to the hatch. When service is finished, we pack up and leave the pitch tidy. In Canons Park, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, which means evening fish and chips is frequently served in daylight in June and July. For autumn and winter weddings, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting by the van.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check access at the venue and send a price.
  3. We fit our timings around your running order and the venue.
  4. We cook to order on the day and serve right on cue.
  5. We pack up when service is finished, leaving the pitch tidy.

How to prepare

  • Give us your final numbers and allergies
  • Think about a gazebo by the van in case of rain
  • Clear the route for the van

Diets, allergies and planning

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Don’t forget your suppliers
  • Name a friend or coordinator as our contact
  • Confirm the van can park at the venue
  • Arrange an alternative for anyone who can’t eat from the van

If speeches or dances run over, we simply start a little later.

A string of lights by the hatch makes a great photo.

Why fried-to-order beats a buffet

A second sit-down meal in the evening is expensive and formal. Fish and chips from the hatch keeps it informal, and guests eat where they like. Compared with a sit-down meal, a fish and chip van is frequently good value, because it needs no kitchen and no crockery hire. Ask us for a quote.

What you get with us

Questions from Canons Park

Can you serve after a service at Church of St Lawrence?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with somewhere for the van. Churches rarely have space for a catering van, so the food is typically elsewhere. Tell us where you will gather.

What about parking in Canons Park?

London parking needs planning: let us know about off-street space or permits. We’ll work around it.

What’s on the menu?

Fish and chips, of course, plus sausage or pie and chips. The sides are mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy.

How much does a fish and chip van for your wedding cost in Canons Park?

We quote for each booking, so the price fits what you need. Tell us your date and rough numbers for a clear quote.

Can you cater for allergies?

Let us know about allergies in advance, and we will give you the allergen information.

Do you do anything other than fish?

There is: sausages and pies, with chips. Tell us roughly how many to expect.

When should evening food go out?

Most couples choose between 8pm and 9:30pm, after the first dance. We’ll work to your timings.

Is the food cooked at the event?

It is. The fryers are in the van, so it’s fried on the spot, not cooked earlier and kept warm.

Organising for someone else?

Parks, greens and streets normally need permission for a catering van. The council or landowner will tell you what they need.

For repeat bookings, such as regular staff lunches or annual fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can hold the date.

Food your guests will love

Mushy peas

Proper mushy peas start with dried marrowfat peas. They’re the classic side with fish and chips.

Haddock and chips

Haddock has loyal fans: a firmer flake and a sweeter taste. Tell us if you’d like to offer it.

Cannot we just order from the chip shop?

Frying for a crowd at home is not a good idea: big pans of hot oil, children and garden parties don’t mix. A van is designed for exactly this.

You could do a chip-shop run for everyone yourself, but it rarely works for a crowd. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. A van fries it right there, so it is crisp.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
