Should I sort the food myself?

If you do order from a chip shop, ring well ahead and collect as close to eating time as you can. For anything more than a handful of people, a van is generally the easier option.

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Think about numbers, timing and how hot you want the food. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Bacon rolls and pizza are popular evening choices too. A chip van gives a more filling, proper meal. The cost per head generally falls as numbers rise, because the van, travel and set-up cost much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

Why book with us

  • A quote that spells everything out
  • Fish and chips fried fresh on site
  • No kitchen, no crockery, no washing up
  • Quick service from the hatch

How the day works

The smell of the fryers does the inviting. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, with chips cooked in batches as the queue moves. At a December wedding in Deal, it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so plan a lit path from the party to the van, while a June wedding has light until about 9:15pm.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check access for the van and quote.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

FAQs for Deal

Is Deal close to London?

Roughly 67 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Could you trade in Betteshanger Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council. Check with them first.

Is the food cooked at the event?

Yes, always. We fry to order in the van at your venue, and serve straight from the hatch.

What happens if it rains?

We carry on in the rain, because the cooking happens inside. Very soft ground can be a problem, so plan a back-up spot on a hard surface.

Does the batter contain gluten?

Not as standard: the batter contains wheat. Let us know and we will tell you what we can do before booking.

What time will you serve?

Normally between about 8pm and 9:30pm, once the first dance is done. We will fit your running order.

Can the van park by the marquee?

Often, if the ground is firm and the venue agrees. We will check access with you and the venue.

Can the van come to Deal?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Deal is within our area and the rest of Kent. For a quote, send us your details through our quote form.

What a fish and chip van costs

Fish and chip van pricing is simple once we know the basics:

  • Service time
  • The menu and how many choices
  • The day of the week
  • Travel, tolls and road charges

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll suggest a menu and timing to match. Keeping the menu short is usually the best value.

Getting an accurate quote

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • Rough numbers for adults and children
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The address or venue name
  • How to get in: gates, lanes and ground

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: where the van would park, how to get in, numbers and timings. A photo of the spot helps too. To send your details, send us your details through our quote form.

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. Here are a few tips:

  • Not every evening guest eats: ask us how many to plan for
  • Include the band, photographer and venue staff
  • Ask your venue about catering vans first
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease

Ushers or bridesmaids can send tables up in turn.

Think about cover by the hatch for wet evenings.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event

  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
