Wedding fish and chip van for Ewshot events

Why fried-to-order beats a buffet

Evening food can be anything from bacon rolls to pizza. A chip van gives a more filling, proper meal that guests remember. Larger groups generally cost less per head, because the van, travel and set-up cost much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

How it works

From set-up to the last portion, we look after the food, so you can get on with your wedding. In Ewshot, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, so evening food at about 8:30pm is in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting by the van.

  1. Get in touch with the basics: when, where and roughly how many.
  2. A photo of the parking spot helps us check the van will fit.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm the arrival time and serving time.
  4. The van rolls up, the hatch opens and the fryers get going for your guests.
  5. Last portion served, we tidy up and head off.

Common questions in Ewshot

What’s the nearest station to Ewshot?

Farnham station, about 2.6 miles south-east of the centre.

Is Ewshot close to London?

About 36 miles from central London.

Is the food cooked at the event?

Yes. The fryers are in the van, so it is fried on the spot, not cooked earlier and kept warm.

How much does a fish and chip van for your wedding cost in Ewshot?

We quote for each booking, so the price fits what you need. Give us your date, numbers and serving time for a clear quote.

Do we need to provide equipment?

We bring the van and everything we need to cook. You just need a suitable spot and permission.

Where can the van park?

Level, firm ground the van can reach, close to where people will eat, with room for a queue at the hatch. Tell us about gates, lanes and soft ground.

What do we need to supply?

Somewhere suitable to park, with permission. Tell us whether there is power or water nearby and we will take it from there.

Where will the van go at our venue?

Often, if the ground is firm and the venue agrees. We’ll check access with you and the venue.

Cannot we just order from the chip shop?

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Think about numbers, timing and how hot you want the food. Ask us for a quote and compare.

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For bigger numbers, a van makes life easier, and nobody has to miss the wedding.

What comes out of the fryer

Cod and chips

Cod has big, soft white flakes and a mild flavour, and it’s what most people in the south ask for. We batter it and fry it to order.

Sausage and chips

For anyone who doesn’t fancy fish, there is sausage and chips, and children love it.

Planning for dietary needs

Dietary needs are easiest to plan with some notice. Our advice:

  • Count suppliers working late
  • Give us a contact for the day who isn’t the couple
  • Have a back-up for guests with special diets
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease

If speeches or dances run over, we simply start a little later.

A covered route from the marquee to the van helps if it rains.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
