Wedding fish and chip van for your wedding in Honor Oak

Timings are planned with you and the venue, so service fits around the first dance, the cake and the band. We serve mushy peas, cod and chips and haddock and chips, and we are regularly asked to cater weddings in a marquee or garden and vow renewal parties.

In Honor Oak, parking for suppliers is part of the plan. Ask your venue about a loading bay or yard, which is ideal for the van. We serve from the hatch, so every portion is hot, and service is quick once we are up and running.

Can’t we just order from the chip shop?

Some hosts try a takeaway order. The problem is timing: big orders take a long time, and the food is cooling while it travels. A van solves that by cooking on site.

You could do a chip-shop run for everyone yourself, but it rarely works for a crowd. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. With a van, it’s fried on the spot.

Your questions about a fish and chip van for your wedding in Honor Oak

Can you serve after a service at Church of St Augustine?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with somewhere for the van. Churches rarely have space for a catering van, so the food is usually elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

What’s the nearest station to Honor Oak?

Honor Oak Park station, in Honor Oak itself.

Is the fish gluten-free?

Standard batter is made with wheat flour, so battered fish contains gluten. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance, and we will be straight with you about what’s possible.

Do you do evening food for weddings?

Yes, that’s what most couples book us for. We will agree a serving time around your running order.

How long does set-up take?

That depends on your numbers and timings. We confirm all the timings beforehand.

Where can the van park?

A level, firm spot it can drive onto, near your guests, with room for a queue at the hatch. Mention any narrow gates or soft ground.

When should evening food go out?

Most couples choose between 8pm and 9:30pm, after the first dance. We’ll fit your running order.

Do you do anything other than fish?

Sausage and chips and pie and chips are on the menu. Let us know about any other dietary needs and we’ll tell you what we can offer.

How it works

Because we cook inside the van, rain doesn’t stop us. Guests will still appreciate a bit of cover near the hatch. In Honor Oak, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, which means evening fish and chips is often served in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check access for the van and quote.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. Everything is fried to order as the queue moves.
  5. We serve hot from the hatch and pack up when we’re done.

Getting ready for the day

  • Get permission for the van from the venue
  • Check the way in for low branches, cables and narrow gates
  • Leave room in front of the hatch for a queue

Planning for dietary needs

Allergies are taken seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Talk to us about evening numbers
  • Do not forget your suppliers
  • Make sure we have someone to call on the day
  • Ask about dietary needs on the invitation

After service, we pack up quietly and let the dancing carry on.

Ask your band or DJ to tell guests the van is open.

What the van needs

If a spot isn’t suitable, we will tell you. What matters most:

  • Space for people to queue at the hatch
  • Access wide and high enough for the van
  • A spot near your guests

As a London location, Honor Oak is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about driveways, yards, car parks or a council parking suspension.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

Working with your venue

Parks, greens and streets usually need permission for a catering van. The council or landowner will tell you what they need.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, a facilities manager or an organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

How we price a fish and chip van for your wedding

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • Any minimum charge
  • The length of service
  • The date and time of year
  • How far we travel

Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest how to make it work. Keeping the menu short is normally the best value.

Getting an accurate quote

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • Allergies and diets you know about
  • Expected numbers
  • A picture of the parking spot
  • Access details such as gates and narrow lanes

Every booking is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually need. To ask for one, send us your details through our quote form.

Food your guests will love

Cod and chips

Cod has big, soft white flakes and a mild flavour, and it’s the favourite in much of the south. We batter it and fry it to order, so it’s crisp when it reaches you.

Mushy peas

Proper mushy peas start with dried marrowfat peas. They’re the classic side with fish and chips.
