Wedding fish and chip van for your wedding in Oxford
Some couples book the van for the wedding breakfast at a relaxed, informal wedding. Most use it for evening food, when it really comes into its own. We serve curry sauce, haddock and chips and mushy peas, and we are regularly asked to cater rustic farm weddings and relaxed, informal receptions.
Oxford has plenty of wedding venues, from hotels and function rooms to clubs and gardens. The van suits any reception with a car park or yard nearby. Everything is fried fresh at your wedding, not cooked earlier and kept warm, and served the moment it comes out of the fryer.

The menu, dish by dish
Gravy
Chips and gravy is a favourite in the north and the Midlands, and it is lovely with a pie.
Cod and chips
Cod has big, soft white flakes and a mild flavour, and it’s what most people in the south ask for. It is battered and fried to order, so it’s crisp when it reaches you.
Organising for someone else?
Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we’ll explain how it works. We are happy to liaise with facilities on parking and timings.
Having the party at home? Send a photo of where the van would park, and we will let you know if the van will fit.
Step by step
We do not cook ahead. Each portion is battered and fried as it is ordered, which is why it tastes like it does at the seaside. Golden-hour photos in Oxford at midsummer come around 9:25pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 9:00pm, and in late September about 7:10pm.
- You tell us your date, venue, rough numbers and when you’d like the food.
- We check the venue and the date, then send a quote.
- We fit our timings around your running order and the venue.
- We cook to order on the day and serve right on cue.
- Afterwards we clear our spot and leave you to the party.
Before we arrive
- Get permission for the van from the venue

Why fried-to-order beats a buffet
Compared with a cold evening buffet, a chip van serves hot food fresh from the fryer, and nothing sits out drying up. Larger groups typically cost less per head, since the van and set-up are much the same for any size. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.
Why Oxford hosts choose us
- No surprises in your quote
- Rain does not stop the fryers
- Something for guests to gather round
- No kitchen, no crockery, no washing up

Questions from Oxford
Is Oxford close to London?
Roughly 52 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.
Could you trade in South Park?
Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.
When should we book?
The sooner the better. Peak dates go quickly, so it pays to ask early.
Do you bring everything you need?
We bring the van and everything we need to cook. You provide a suitable spot and permission to park.
What does it cost to hire the van?
Every booking is quoted individually, based on your numbers and timings. Tell us your date and rough numbers and we’ll reply with a price.
Is there a non-fish option?
Yes: sausage and chips or pie and chips. Give us a rough idea of numbers.
Do you clear up afterwards?
The pitch is left as we found it. It helps to have bins near the hatch.
Can you cater for allergies?
Yes, we can tell you which allergens are in each item. Battered fish contains fish and, in standard batter, gluten. Send us any allergies in writing.
What the van needs
Every site is different, so we’ll ask about yours when you contact us. Generally, we look for:
- Flat, firm ground for the van
- Lighting nearby for evening events
- A route in without tight gates or low branches
Not sure about the spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

DIY versus a fish and chip van
You could do a chip-shop run for everyone yourself, but it rarely works for a crowd. By the time you’ve queued, paid and driven back, the batter has gone soft. With a van, it is fried on the spot.
Deep-frying for lots of people at home is risky: big pans of hot oil, children and garden parties do not mix. A van is designed for exactly this.
- Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
- Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
- The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
- Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
