Wedding fish and chip van in The Chart

Wedding fish and chip van in The Chart, cooked to order

The van parks near the marquee, barn or venue, and guests drift out to queue and chat. It turns evening food into part of the celebration. For wedding after-parties and anniversary celebrations, we can cook haddock and chips, cod and chips and sausage and chips and more.

A wedding in a small place like The Chart frequently means a field, a barn or a family garden. That’s where a chip van shines: no kitchen, just firm ground nearby. Let us know about access and ground. Everything we need comes with the van, and we pack up and leave the spot as we found it.

FAQs for The Chart

Is The Chart close to London?

About 18 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Do you come out to small places like The Chart?

Not at all. We serve villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Do you clear up afterwards?

The pitch is left as we found it. It helps to have bins near the hatch.

Do you come to The Chart?

We do. The Chart is one of the places we cover. Send us your date to check availability.

When should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Popular dates book up first, so contact us early.

Is the fish gluten-free?

Not as standard: batter is normally made with wheat flour. Tell us about any coeliac guests and we’ll explain the options.

What do you bring?

The van comes fully equipped to cook. You just need a suitable spot and permission.

When should evening food go out?

Most couples choose between 8pm and 9:30pm, after the first dance. We will fit your running order.

How the day works

You will know we are ready when the smell of frying drifts over. From then on, people come up as they’re ready. Evening food at a The Chart wedding often goes out just as the light fades: about 9:20pm at midsummer, 8:50pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September. A few lights by the hatch help guests and photos alike.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check access for the van and quote.
  3. We arrive early to park and heat the fryers.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

Preparing for the day

  • Check the way in for low branches, cables and narrow gates
  • Name one person we can call on the day
  • Keep space clear for guests at the hatch

Planning help

Should I sort the food myself?

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. We’re happy to send a quote so you can compare.

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For larger numbers, or when you want hot food, a van takes the pressure off, and you get to enjoy the day.

Why choose a fish and chip van in The Chart?

Next to a cold buffet, a chip van serves hot food fresh from the fryer, and nothing sits out drying up. Many fish and chip vans set a minimum, because the van, fuel and travel cost the same for a small group. Ask us what applies to your wedding.
