Wedding fish and chip van for your wedding in Weybridge

The van parks near the marquee, barn or venue, and guests wander out to the hatch. It becomes a lovely moment in the evening. We serve sausage and chips, mushy peas and curry sauce, and typical bookings are for coastal-themed receptions and laid-back receptions.

A wedding in Weybridge might mean a ceremony at a local church followed by a reception in a garden, marquee or hall. That suits a chip van perfectly: the van parks beside the marquee or in the hall car park. We cook inside the van, right where your guests are, so the batter is still crisp when it is handed over.

Planning for dietary needs

Dietary needs are easiest to plan with some notice. Our advice:

  • Plan something for guests we cannot cater for
  • Plan bins by the hatch
  • Include the band, photographer and venue staff
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease

We arrive and set up without getting in the way, so we are ready at the agreed time.

A chalkboard sign with the menu by the van adds a nice touch.

For event organisers in Weybridge

For repeat bookings, such as regular staff lunches or annual fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

For big groups, the service window matters, so we can plan how to keep the queue short. Staggering groups helps a lot.

FAQs for Weybridge

What’s the nearest station to Weybridge?

Weybridge station, about 0.9 miles south-west of the centre.

Could you trade in Woburn Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council. Ask them first.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack up and leave the pitch tidy when service is finished. Let us know about bins for guests.

Is everything cooked fresh?

Yes. We cook inside the van, so food is cooked there and then, not cooked earlier and kept warm.

Can the van park by the marquee?

Your venue decides, but close to the party is best. A picture of the area helps.

Will the van be in our photos?

Lots of couples ask for a picture at the van. If you’d rather not, we’ll park out of shot where possible.

Can coeliacs eat the battered fish?

Our battered fish contains gluten, because standard batter uses wheat flour. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance, and we’ll tell you honestly what we can offer.

Which areas do you serve?

London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

What affects the price in Weybridge

Two events with the same numbers can cost different amounts, depending on:

  • How easy the site is to reach
  • How many people are eating
  • Travel, tolls and road charges
  • The minimum booking

How to compare vans

DIY versus a fish and chip van

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For larger numbers, or when you want hot food, a van takes the pressure off, and nobody has to miss the wedding.

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Think about numbers, timing and how hot you want the food. We are happy to send a quote so you can compare.

Where the van can park in Weybridge

A good parking spot makes the whole thing easier. We need:

  • A lit spot if service runs after dark
  • A level, firm spot the van can drive onto
  • A clear area by the serving hatch

Not sure about the spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Popular choices

  • Cod and chips
  • Haddock and chips
  • Curry sauce

The process

We do not cook ahead. Each portion is battered and fried as it’s ordered, which is why it tastes like it does at the seaside. In Weybridge, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, so evening food at about 8:30pm is in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting by the van.

  1. Get in touch with the basics: when, where and roughly how many.
  2. Show us where the van would go, and we’ll confirm it works.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm timings and numbers.
  4. We park, open the hatch and start frying for your guests.
  5. Last portion served, we tidy up and head off.

Getting ready for the day

  • Let us know the serving time
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Check the venue or landowner is happy for the van to park

Is a fish and chip van right for your wedding?

A hog roast is a classic for weddings, but it’s pork only. A chip van offers fish, sausages and pies. Fish and chip van prices depend on the booking. A short service and a long afternoon’s trading are very different bookings. We set everything out in your quote.
