Wedding fish and chip van for World's End events

About our wedding fish and chip van in World's End

Timings are planned with you and the venue, so service fits around the first dance, the cake and the band. Popular choices include sausage and chips, curry sauce and mushy peas, and we are regularly asked to cater coastal-themed receptions and barn and farm weddings.

In World's End, a local ceremony and a marquee reception is a lovely, personal choice. We park close by for evening food. Tell us about access to the field or garden. Everything is fried fresh at your wedding, not cooked earlier and kept warm.

Should I sort the food myself?

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For bigger numbers, a van makes life easier, and nobody has to miss the wedding.

Frying for a crowd at home is not a good idea: hot oil and a busy party are a bad combination. Leave the frying to a van built for it.

Working with your venue

For larger numbers, tell us how long you have for food, so we can plan service to match. Sending people up in groups helps.

If you are booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we will talk you through the process. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on parking and timings.

What the van needs

A fish and chip van is a vehicle, so the spot matters, so a few things need checking. Here’s what we look for:

  • A short walk from the party
  • Room in front of the hatch for a queue
  • A lit spot if service runs after dark

Not sure about the spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

From the hatch

  • Cod and chips
  • Curry sauce
  • Evening fish and chips
  • Sausage and chips
  • Mushy peas
  • Haddock and chips

Questions from World's End

What’s the nearest station to World's End?

World's End has its own station: Wivelsfield station.

Can the van go to venues in the South Downs National Park?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles and ground, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

What areas do you cover?

London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

Do you do evening food for weddings?

Of course. It is our most popular wedding booking. Send us your date and venue.

Can you cook in the rain?

The weather does not stop the van, because the cooking happens inside. Soft ground after heavy rain is the bigger issue, so have a hard-surface spot in mind.

What about guests who do not eat fish?

Sausage and chips and pie and chips are on the menu. Tell us about other diets and we will be honest about what’s possible.

Do you have allergen information?

We provide allergen information for everything we serve. Battered fish contains fish and, in standard batter, gluten. Send us any allergies in writing.

Can you park on the road outside?

Only where it is legal to park, or with a council parking suspension or road closure. Check with your council first.

Looking after everyone

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:

  • Flag coeliac guests early
  • Add an allergy question to your RSVP card
  • Check your venue’s rules on outside caterers early
  • Have a back-up for guests with special diets

We arrive and set up without getting in the way, so we are ready at the agreed time.

Let the DJ or band announce when the food is ready.

The menu, dish by dish

Haddock and chips

Haddock has loyal fans: sweeter and a touch firmer than cod. Tell us if you’d like to offer it.

Pie and chips

Pie and chips is hearty and filling, and it’s a favourite in colder months.

Is a fish and chip van right for your wedding?

Formal evening food costs more and slows the party down. Fish and chips from the hatch keeps it informal. Travel, tolls and charges such as ULEZ can affect the price, so it helps to give us the postcode.

Step by step

From set-up to the last portion, we look after the food, so you can enjoy your wedding. Golden-hour photos in World's End at midsummer come around 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, rough numbers and when you’d like the food.
  2. We check access at the venue and send a price.
  3. Timings are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. We cook to order on the day and serve right on cue.
  5. Afterwards we clear our spot and leave you to the party.

Before we arrive

  • Pick a flat, firm place for the van to park
  • Confirm the van is allowed on site
  • Check the way in for low branches, cables and narrow gates
