A chip van near Cyprus

Before you choose a spot

We will be honest if a spot will not work, and help find another. What matters most:

  • A level, firm spot such as the car park or drive
  • Away from emergency access
  • Somewhere residents can reach safely, or see from inside

Cyprus is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about driveways, yards, car parks or a council parking suspension.

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

From the hatch

About our care home fish and chips in Cyprus

Some residents come out to the van; others watch from inside, and families can join in. Whether it’s day centre treats and seaside-themed afternoons, we can cook haddock and chips, cod and chips and gravy.

Care homes in Cyprus often have a small car park or drive, so we plan a spot that keeps emergency access clear. Everything we need comes with the van, and we pack up and leave the spot as we found it.

Should I sort the food myself?

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For bigger numbers, a van makes life easier, and you get to enjoy the day.

Ordering in from a local chip shop is an option. Large orders are slow, and the food cools in the bags. A van cooks in front of your residents instead.

Looking after everyone

We need to know about dietary needs and allergies in advance, and we will be straight with you about what’s possible. To get it right:

  • List residents’ diets, allergies and portion needs
  • Fit the visit around routines
  • Involve the kitchen and care team early
  • Plan portion sizes with us

Food for residents indoors goes straight in on plates.

Families love being included.

How the day works

Serving is straightforward: everything is handed over hot from the hatch, and people can eat where they like. When service is finished, we pack up and leave the pitch tidy. For a summer visit in Cyprus, residents can enjoy the garden in daylight until about 9:20pm, which makes garden visits easy. In December, with dark by about 3:50pm, lunchtime is best.

  1. First, tell us about your care home visit.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. We agree timings, access and the parking spot.
  4. On the day, we park up and fry fresh for residents.
  5. Everything goes out hot from the hatch, and we pack up afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Choose a level, firm spot for the van
  • Name one person we can call on the day
  • Check the venue or landowner is happy for the van to park

What comes out of the fryer

Sausage and chips

For anyone who doesn’t fancy fish, there’s sausage and chips, and it’s a favourite with children.

Mushy peas

Proper mushy peas start with dried marrowfat peas. They’re the side most people expect.

How we price a fish and chip van visit

Your quote will be clear. The main things that affect it are:

  • The date and time of year
  • Whether a minimum applies
  • Parking and the way in
  • Service time

The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. Every booking gets its own quote.

What we need to know

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Access details such as gates and narrow lanes
  • Where the van would park
  • A picture of where the van would go
  • Where the event is

To get a price, send us your details through our quote form. Give us the details of your care home visit, and we will come back with availability and a quote.
