Planning for dietary needs

We need to know about dietary needs and allergies in advance, and we will tell you honestly what we can offer. To make it work smoothly:

  • Tell us about vegetarian and vegan guests early
  • Keep the menu short to keep the queue moving
  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
  • Send allergies to us in writing

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We park, set up, fry and serve, and keep in touch with you about timings.

Fish and chip van hire for your event in Cyprus

If the van can park there, we can fry there: a driveway, a car park, a yard or a firm field in and around Cyprus. For village fêtes and school fairs and evening wedding food, we can cook cod and chips, sausage and chips and pie and chips.

Streets in Cyprus are often tight, which makes off-street parking, such as a drive, a school playground or a car park, the easiest option. Send us a photo of the spot. We cook inside the van, right where your guests are, so the batter is still crisp when it is handed over.

Should I sort the food myself?

Ordering from a local shop? Call ahead and collect at the last minute. For anything more than a handful of people, a van is usually the easier option.

Collecting fish and chips for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s hard work. By the time you’ve queued, paid and driven back, the batter has gone soft. A van fries it right there, so it’s crisp.

Planning a chip van in Cyprus

Cyprus is about 2 miles east of Canning Town, in Greater London. We park up at homes, halls, workplaces and venues in Cyprus and nearby villages. Cyprus is one of 764 places in Greater London we cover. Our bookings stretch from Cyprus to London (about 7 miles away).

Within reach of Cyprus are historic houses such as Eastbury Manor House (2.3 miles north-east) and Queen's House (3.5 miles south-west). Historic venues often limit vehicles, so ask early if you’re booking one. For a fundraiser at a school like Winsor Primary School, the van can trade from a pitch agreed with the school.

We take the van to events all over the E6 and E16 postcode area. Whether your event is on Strait Road, Harper Road and Trader Road or a nearby road, we can park up and fry there. Other places close to Cyprus we cover include Beckton (1 mile north-east), North Woolwich (1 mile south), Royal Docks (1 mile west), East Ham (1 mile north) and Custom House (1 mile west). Within a short drive, we also cover London (7 miles west), City of Westminster (9 miles west), Marylebone (9 miles west), Kensington (11 miles west), St Pancras (8 miles west) and Shoreditch (6 miles west).

Nearby you will also find Greenwich Castle (3.6 miles south-west) and North Woolwich Old Station Museum (0.7 miles south). The countryside around Cyprus includes Gilbert's Pit.

  • Nearby schools include London Design and Engineering UTC (under half a mile south-west) and Oasis Academy Silvertown (0.6 miles south)
  • Local facilities include East Ham (1.6 miles north)

For event organisers in Cyprus

Having the party at home? Send us a photo of the drive or the spot and the way in, and we will let you know if the van will fit.

Venues frequently have their own rules about outside caterers and vehicles: where a van can park, access times and the paperwork they want. Tell us what your venue needs and we will work through them with you.

What a fish and chip van costs

Every booking is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • How long we serve
  • Numbers
  • Your choice of menu
  • Peak dates such as summer Saturdays

Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest a menu and timing to match. Keeping the menu short is generally the best value.

What we need to know

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • A picture of the space and the way in
  • Anything awkward about the way in
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Roughly how many people, including children

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote: where the van would park, how to get in, numbers and timings. Photos of the spot and the way in help. When you are ready, send us your details through our quote form.

What comes out of the fryer

Curry sauce

Chip-shop curry sauce is a mild, slightly sweet British classic, great with chips and sausages.

Sausage and chips

Sausage and chips is the go-to for anyone who is not a fish fan.

How the day works

Setting up takes a little while, because the oil has to come up to temperature, so we are there in good time before you want to eat. Planning an evening event in Cyprus? Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September; once it is dark, we need light by the hatch and the queue.

  1. First, the plan: what, where and what time.
  2. You hear back on the date and the price.
  3. We agree exactly where the van parks.
  4. Batter, fish and chips all go into the fryer as people come up.
  5. We leave the spot as we found it.

Getting ready for the day

  • Share the timings for the day
  • Keep space clear for guests at the hatch
  • Check the venue or landowner is happy for the van to park

How to get a price

Space, access and the venue

If a spot isn’t suitable, we will tell you, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:

  • Lighting nearby for evening events
  • Permission from the venue or landowner for the van
  • Access wide and high enough for the van

As a London location, Cyprus is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about off-street space or permits.

Not sure about the spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Your questions about a fish and chip van in Cyprus

Is parking a problem for the van in Cyprus?

It can be, so tell us about driveways, yards, car parks or a council suspension. We’ll plan around it.

Could you trade in Beckton District Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

Do you take everything away?

We take the van and everything with it, and leave the spot tidy. It helps to have bins near the hatch.

What areas do you cover?

We take the van across London and the South East, Greater London included. Find your area.

What’s on the menu?

Proper fish and chips, plus sausage or pie and chips. The sides are mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy.

Do you come to Cyprus?

Yes, we do. Cyprus is one of the places we cover. Send us your date to check availability.

Is grass a problem?

It depends on the ground. Let us know what the ground is like, and we’ll advise.

Is everything cooked fresh?

Yes. We cook inside the van, so it’s fried on the spot, rather than made in advance.

Is a fish and chip van right for your event?

Cold buffets are easy but forgettable, and there is nothing warming on a chilly day. Fish and chips is fried to order and served hot. Distance and any road charges make a difference, so tell us exactly where your event is.
