How the day works

Because we cook inside the van, rain doesn’t stop us. It’s worth thinking about cover for the queue, though. For a summer visit in Whitehawk, residents can enjoy the garden in daylight until about 9:15pm, so an early-evening garden visit works well. In winter, dark by about 3:55pm, a lunchtime visit is better.

  1. First, tell us about your care home visit.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. We agree timings, access and the parking spot.
  4. We cook to order on the day for residents.
  5. Everything goes out hot from the hatch, and we pack up afterwards.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm the van is allowed on site
  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Arrange somewhere dry for the queue

Your questions about a fish and chip van visit in Whitehawk

Can the van go to venues in the South Downs National Park?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for vehicles; ask your venue. We’ll follow the site rules.

Can the van park in Whitehawk Hill?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Ask them first.

Who clears up?

We take the van and everything with it, and leave the spot tidy. It helps to have bins near the hatch.

Can you serve children?

Of course. Children generally love sausage and chips. Tell us how many are coming.

Can portions be smaller?

Tell us what you need and we will plan portion sizes with your team.

How much does a fish and chip van visit cost in Whitehawk?

It depends on numbers, the menu, how long we serve and travel. Tell us about your care home visit and we’ll send a quote.

Do you do regular visits?

We are happy to talk about repeat visits.

What do you bring?

The van comes fully equipped to cook. You provide a suitable spot and permission to park.

Planning the van’s spot

Most drives, car parks, yards and firm lawns can take the van, but there are a few things to check:

  • With the serving side away from windows
  • Somewhere residents can reach safely, or see from inside
  • Away from emergency access

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Why fried-to-order beats a buffet

A trip out to a restaurant is hard for many residents. The van comes to the home. There’s no one-size-fits-all price for a fish and chip van. A short service and a long afternoon’s trading are very different bookings. Your quote spells it all out.

  • The date and time of year
  • Numbers
  • How far we travel
  • Access and parking

A chip van often compares well with a plated meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire and nothing to wash up. We’ll send you a quote.
