Christmas party fish and chips in The Village

How our Christmas party fish and chips works in The Village

A Christmas party doesn’t have to mean another turkey dinner. Fish and chips from the van is warming, generous and a bit different. Typical bookings include christmas fairs and lights switch-ons and office Christmas parties, with haddock and chips, gravy and sausage and chips.

Near The Village, country lanes are dark in winter, so let us know about access and lighting. Every portion is cooked to order on the day, never cooked in advance and left in a hot cabinet.

Is a fish and chip van right for your Christmas party?

Compared with a restaurant Christmas lunch, a van means no booking, no travel and no time off site. Many fish and chip vans set a minimum, since getting the van there costs the same however many eat. Ask us what applies to your Christmas party.

What you get with us

  • No surprises in your quote
  • No kitchen needed
  • Cod, haddock, sausages and pies
  • Something for guests to gather round

Food your guests will love

Curry sauce

The chip shop’s own curry sauce is mild and a little sweet, great with chips and sausages.

Gravy

Chips and gravy is a favourite in the north and the Midlands, and it goes perfectly with a pie.

Organising for someone else?

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we’ll talk you through the process. We are happy to liaise with facilities on parking and timings.

Parks, greens and streets usually need permission for a catering van. Ask the council or landowner early.

Step by step

We get there well before service, set up and bring the oil up to temperature. Your guests can wander over to the hatch as soon as we open. In December, it’s dark in The Village by about 3:55pm, so even a late-afternoon Christmas party needs lighting by the van and the queue. A lunchtime party is the only one served in good daylight.

  1. Start with three things: the date, the place and a rough headcount.
  2. Show us where the van would go, and we’ll confirm it works.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm the arrival time and serving time.
  4. The van rolls up, the hatch opens and the fryers get going for your guests.
  5. Last portion served, we tidy up and head off.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Plan where the queue will stand
  • Clear the route for the van

Planning help

Why choose Christmas party fish and chips in The Village?

It’s hot food on a cold day, served fast.

The van suits big events and small ones. Common bookings include:

  • Lights switch-on events
  • Family Christmas get-togethers
  • New Year parties
  • Office Christmas parties

A winter fair at a school like Windsor Girls' School gets dark early, so hot food from a van is popular.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Payment terms and deposit
  • How long service runs, and what happens if you overrun
  • Whether travel is included
  • Exactly what’s included in the price

Choosing a fish and chip van

Should I sort the food myself?

Deep-frying for lots of people at home is risky: big pans of hot oil, children and garden parties do not mix. Leave the frying to a van built for it.

If you do order from a chip shop, ring well ahead and collect as close to eating time as you can. For anything more than a handful of people, a van is normally the easier option.

Allergies and dietary needs

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:

  • Agree the spot with the venue
  • Let us know about coeliac disease
  • Collect allergies in advance
  • Ensure the van and queue are well lit

Stagger groups so the queue stays short.

Paper hats and crackers on the tables add to the fun.

The Village questions

Is The Village too small for a chip van?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Can the van park in Windsor Great Park?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Ask them first.

What does the van need?

A level, firm spot it can drive onto, near your guests, with room for a queue at the hatch. Tell us about gates, lanes and soft ground.

What about guests who do not eat fish?

There is: sausages and pies, with chips. Tell us roughly how many to expect.

Do you cater Christmas fairs?

Yes. Tell us the date and pitch.

How early do Christmas dates go?

Ideally in the summer or early autumn, especially for a Friday.

Which areas do you serve?

We take the van across London and the South East, Windsor and Maidenhead included. Find your area.

How long will the queue be?

Keeping choices simple and sending people up in groups helps. We’ll talk it through when we quote.

What affects the price in The Village

Every booking is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Whether a minimum applies
  • Numbers
  • The date and time of year
  • The length of service

Compared with a sit-down meal, a fish and chip van is frequently good value, because it needs no kitchen and no crockery hire. We will send you a quote.
