Corporate fish and chip catering in Vigo Village

Corporate fish and chip catering for your staff event in Vigo Village

Few staff treats are as popular as a fish and chip van lunch. It needs no kitchen and no room booking, and people still talk about it the following week. For a monthly Fish Friday and retirement and leaving lunches, we will put together a menu of mushy peas, haddock and chips and cod and chips and more.

Near Vigo Village, workplaces can be far from shops, so a chip van lunch is welcome. We bring the van and everything we need to cook, and we leave the pitch tidy when we go.

Working with your venue

If you are booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we will talk you through the process. We are happy to liaise with facilities on parking and timings.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Should I sort the food myself?

Collecting fish and chips for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s hard work. By the time you’ve queued, paid and driven back, the batter has gone soft. With a van, it is fried on the spot.

Some hosts try a takeaway order. The problem is timing: big orders take a long time, and the food is cooling while it travels. A van solves that by cooking on site.

What comes out of the fryer

Curry sauce

Chip-shop curry sauce is a mild, slightly sweet British classic, great with chips and sausages.

Cod and chips

Cod has big, soft white flakes and a mild flavour, and it’s what most people in the south ask for. We batter it and fry it to order, so it is crisp when it reaches you.

Where the van can park in Vigo Village

A good parking spot makes the whole thing easier. We need:

  • A lit spot if service runs after dark
  • The site’s agreement to a catering van
  • Access wide and high enough for the van

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

From the hatch

  • Pie and chips
  • Mushy peas
  • Sausage and chips
  • Cod and chips

Your questions about a fish and chip van for your team in Vigo Village

Do you come to venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles and ground, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

What’s the nearest station to Vigo Village?

The closest is Borough Green & Wrotham station, roughly 3.6 miles away.

Can you cater for allergies?

We provide allergen information for everything we serve. Battered fish contains fish and, in standard batter, gluten. Tell us about allergies in advance.

How far ahead should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays and Christmas party Fridays. Even at short notice, it’s worth asking.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack up and leave the pitch tidy when service is finished. Let us know about bins for staff.

What’s on the menu?

Proper fish and chips, plus sausage or pie and chips. Mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy go on the side.

What does the van need?

Level, firm ground the van can reach, near your staff, and space for a queue. Tell us about gates, lanes and soft ground.

Does the batter contain gluten?

Standard batter is made with wheat flour, so battered fish contains gluten. Tell us about coeliac staff when you enquire, and we will be straight with you about what’s possible.

How the day works

Setting up takes a little while, because the oil has to come up to temperature, so we always arrive well ahead of your serving time. For a staff lunch in Vigo Village, daylight is not an issue, but a winter evening event is dark by about 3:50pm, so plan lighting for later events. Summer events have daylight until around 9:20pm.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and roughly how many.
  2. A photo of the parking spot helps us check the van will fit.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm timings and numbers.
  4. We park, open the hatch and start frying for your staff.
  5. Once the last portion is out, we pack up and go.

Before we arrive

  • Confirm the van is allowed on site
  • Confirm numbers and dietary needs before the day
  • Plan where the queue will stand

Looking after everyone

Nearly every event has some special diets. To look after them:

  • Tell us about coeliac staff specifically
  • A pre-order helps with numbers and allergies
  • Check with facilities where the van can park
  • Send round an allergy question

We can serve each shift in turn, as agreed in advance.

Cover near the van keeps the queue dry.
