Should I sort the food myself?

For a small group, making your own food can work. For bigger numbers, a van makes life easier, and you get to enjoy the day.

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. Ask us for a quote and compare.

15 questions to ask before you book

What a fish and chip van costs

Fish and chip van pricing is simple once we know the basics:

  • The length of service
  • Your choice of menu
  • The number of meals
  • Parking and the way in

The cost per head normally falls as numbers rise, because the van, travel and set-up cost much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

What we need to know

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • Access details such as gates and narrow lanes
  • Where you’d like the van to go
  • Where the event is
  • A picture of where the van would go

The quickest way to a quote is to send us your details through our quote form. Tell us about your shoot in Buxted, and we’ll check the date and send a price.

Your questions about a fish and chip van for the crew in Buxted

How far is Buxted from London?

About 36 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Do you come out to small places like Buxted?

Not at all. We serve villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

What if lunch moves?

We can. Give us a contact for changes, and we will adjust where possible.

Can you cook in the rain?

We cook inside the van, so rain does not stop us. Crew will appreciate cover near the hatch.

What if we only have street parking?

It depends on the road. Off-road parking is usually simpler; for the street, check the council’s rules.

Is there a non-fish option?

We serve sausages and pies as well as fish. Tell us about other diets and we will be honest about what’s possible.

Which areas do you serve?

London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, including Buxted.

Do you need power or water?

Somewhere suitable to park, with permission. Tell us whether there is power or water nearby and we’ll confirm the rest.

A chip van compared with other options

Compared with sandwiches on set, a chip van gives the crew a proper hot meal. Comparing vans? Look at what each quote includes: service time, menu, travel, any minimum and VAT. We set ours out clearly.

  1. You share your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check access for the van and quote.
  3. We arrive early to park and heat the fryers.
  4. Everything is fried to order as the queue moves.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.
