Film set catering in New Pound, fried fresh
Schedules move, so a contact on the day helps and we will work around it. On the menu are haddock and chips, mushy peas and pie and chips, and we are regularly asked to cater crew treats on long shoot days and photo shoots.
Near New Pound, crews may be miles from anywhere to eat, so a van at base is a big help. Every portion is cooked to order on the day, never cooked in advance and left in a hot cabinet, and handed over as soon as it’s ready.
Looking after everyone
With a little notice, diets are easier to plan for. Our advice:
- Put allergy details in writing
- Share the base location and route
- Arrange something for anyone with needs we cannot meet
- Agree how the base is left
Used oil leaves with the van.
Tables or a marquee at base make lunch comfortable.
Location catering around New Pound
New Pound is about 6 miles north-east of Tonbridge, in Kent. From the centre of New Pound to the outskirts, we offer the same service: fresh frying, hot food from the hatch and a clear price. For cast and crew travelling by train, Wateringbury station is about 2.8 miles away. Nearby historic houses include Old Soar Manor (1.9 miles west) and Ightham Mote (4.1 miles west). Period locations like these usually keep vehicles well away from the house, so agree the base early.

Neighbouring places where we serve shoots include Herne Pound (1 mile east), Swanton (1 mile south-west), Mereworth (1 mile south-east), Kent Street (1 mile east) and West Peckham (1 mile south). Why fried-to-order beats a buffet
Takeaway rarely reaches a location hot. The van cooks on site. Larger groups typically cost less per head, because the van, travel and set-up cost much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

How the day works
We don’t cook ahead. Fish is battered and fried when people come up to the hatch, so it’s as fresh as from any chip shop. At midsummer, New Pound has light until about 9:20pm, while by late September it is nearer 7:00pm.

Takeaway run or book a van?
Some hosts try a takeaway order. Large orders are slow, and the food cools in the bags. A van cooks in front of your crew instead.
A DIY buffet works for small groups. For bigger numbers, a van makes life easier, and you get to enjoy the day.
- Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
- Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
- The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
- Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
