Planners, venues and businesses

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers and vehicles: where a van can park, access times and the paperwork they want. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will confirm what we can provide.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can hold the date.

About our film set catering in Willesborough

Food is fried to order, so lunch is hot and fresh. Whether it’s crew lunches at base and outside broadcasts, we can cook mushy peas, haddock and chips and sausage and chips and more.

For a location shoot near Willesborough, base might be in a field or farmyard, so ground conditions matter. Everything is fried fresh at your shoot, never cooked in advance and left in a hot cabinet, and handed over as soon as it’s ready.

What the van needs

If a spot is not suitable, we’ll tell you, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:

  • A hardstanding spot at the unit base
  • Space in front of the hatch
  • Clear of the shot and sound

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before you book.

From the hatch

  • Crew lunches
  • Cod and chips
  • Haddock and chips
  • Mushy peas
  • Sausage and chips

How it works

On the day, we park up on the agreed spot, set up and heat the fryers. Then everything is fried to order, so we time it to your schedule. In December, daylight in Willesborough ends around 3:50pm, so a late lunch or wrap at base needs lighting. In summer, light lasts until about 9:15pm.

  1. You share your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check access for the van and quote.
  3. We arrive early to park and heat the fryers.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

Preparing for the day

  • Share the timings for the day
  • Clear the route for the van
  • Choose a level, firm spot for the van

What comes out of the fryer

Mushy peas

Mushy peas are made from dried marrowfat peas, soaked and cooked until soft. They’re the side most people expect.

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Parking and the way in
  • Whether a minimum applies
  • Peak dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The menu and how many choices

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll suggest a menu and timing to match. Keeping the menu short is normally the best value.
