Fish and chip van for events for Amersham events

How our fish and chip van for events works in Amersham

Fêtes, school fairs, festivals and shows all suit a chip van, from small community events to bigger crowds. We serve chips, haddock and chips and sausage and chips, and typical bookings are for village fêtes and music and food festivals.

A town like Amersham has schools, churches, clubs and parks that run events through the year. Fish and chips suits any of them. The menu is short on purpose: a few classics done properly keeps the food fresh and the queue moving.

FAQs for Amersham

Is Amersham close to London?

About 25 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Do you trade at school fairs around Amersham?

Yes, if the school is happy for the van on site. Send us the date and where the van would go.

Can you park on the road outside?

Only where it’s legal to park, or with a council parking suspension or road closure. Check with your council first.

Where can the van park?

Level, firm ground the van can reach, near your visitors, and space for a queue. Tell us about gates, lanes and soft ground.

Can you cater for helpers?

We can. Give us numbers and a time.

Do you do school fairs and sports days?

We do. We will agree access before the children arrive.

Do you come to Amersham?

Yes. We take the van across London and the South East, and Amersham is within our area. To check your date, send us your details through our quote form.

Do we need to provide anything?

Somewhere suitable to park, with permission. Mention any power or water available and we’ll confirm the rest.

A fish and chip van or other catering?

At a small fête, one good trader may be all you need, with cakes and teas alongside. Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest a menu and timing to match. A short menu is often the best value.

About the food

Curry sauce

Curry sauce divides opinion, so we bring it along.

Cod and chips

Cod is the classic: mild, white and flaky, and it’s the favourite in much of the south. We batter it and fry it to order.

What a fish and chip van costs

There are no hidden charges: the quote reflects:

  • The day of the week
  • How long we serve
  • The number of meals
  • Whether a minimum applies

Travel, tolls and charges such as ULEZ can affect the price, so tell us exactly where your event is.

What to tell us

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Where the event is
  • Roughly how many people, including children
  • Where the van would park
  • A photo of the space and the way in

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: where the van would park, how to get in, numbers and timings. A photo of the spot helps too. To send your details, fill in our quote form.

Looking after everyone

Nearly every event has some special diets. To look after them:

  • Share any nut or allergy policies
  • Agree when volunteers will eat
  • Tell us about the pitch
  • Agree how we will be paid: pitch fee, share of takings or minimum

Crew food is served at the agreed time.

Tables and seating nearby help families eat.

What the van needs

No two venues are the same, so we’ll ask about yours when you contact us. In general, we need:

  • A wet-weather pitch on hard standing
  • Details of any power or water on site
  • The landowner’s or organiser’s permission for the van

Not sure about the spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Step by step

On the day, we position the van, set up the hatch and get the fryers up to temperature. Once we are hot, we cook to order, timed around your event. In Amersham, a midsummer event stays light until about 9:25pm, but by late September the light goes at about 7:05pm.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the route in and send a price.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

How to prepare

  • Tell us when you want to eat
  • Check the way in for low branches, cables and narrow gates
  • Confirm numbers and dietary needs before the day

Should I sort the food myself?

Deep-frying for lots of people at home is risky: hot oil and a busy party are a bad combination. A van is designed for exactly this.

Some hosts try a takeaway order. The problem is timing: big orders take a long time, and the food is cooling while it travels. A van cooks in front of your visitors instead.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
