Questions from Frogmore

Can the van park in Sandhurst Memorial Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

What’s the nearest station to Frogmore?

The closest is Sandhurst station, roughly 0.8 miles away.

Can you cater for allergies?

We provide allergen information for everything we serve. Fish and gluten are the main ones in battered fish. Tell us about allergies in advance.

Do you do festivals?

Send us the event details, dates and pitch information and we’ll let you know if we are available.

Is the food cooked at the event?

It is. We cook inside the van, so food is cooked there and then, rather than made in advance.

What do you bring?

Everything is cooked in the van. Tell us about power, water and bins at the site.

Can you cater for helpers?

Yes, at a time that suits your schedule.

How long does set-up take?

We arrive well before service to park and heat the fryers. We’ll agree arrival and serving times with you so food is ready when you want it.

Fish and chip van for events in Frogmore, cooked to order

When there’s hot food, people stay longer, which is good for every other stall. Popular choices include curry sauce, haddock and chips and chips, and we’re often booked for school summer fairs and village fêtes and summer fairs.

In Frogmore, one popular trader keeps it simple. Fish and chips does exactly that. Every portion is cooked to order on the day, never cooked in advance and left in a hot cabinet, and handed over as soon as it is ready.

Looking after everyone

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Plan crew and volunteer food times
  • Make sure allergen information is available
  • Plan something for visitors we cannot cater for
  • Share pitch details

Plan where the queue forms.

A few benches near the van help.

Is a fish and chip van right for your event?

Most events have a burger van. Fish and chips adds variety. Larger groups generally cost less per head, because the van, travel and set-up cost much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

What you get with us

  • The queue at the hatch gets people talking
  • The classic sides: peas, curry sauce and gravy
  • Quick service from the hatch
  • No kitchen, no crockery, no washing up

What happens on the day

We get there well before service, set up and bring the oil up to temperature. Your visitors can wander over to the hatch as soon as we open. Summer events in Frogmore have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, which helps evening trading. Winter fairs, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. You share your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the route in and send a price.
  3. We arrive early to park and heat the fryers.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. We serve hot from the hatch and pack up when we’re done.

What a fish and chip van costs

Fish and chip van pricing is simple once we know the basics:

  • The number of meals

Getting an accurate quote

These details help us quote quickly:

  • Expected numbers
  • Where you’d like the van to go
  • Dietary needs, with numbers
  • Anything awkward about the way in

We only need a few details to quote: the date, where the van would park, roughly how many people and when you’d like to eat. To send them, send us your details through our quote form.

The menu, dish by dish

Curry sauce

The chip shop’s own curry sauce is mild and a little sweet, perfect with chips or a sausage.

Pie and chips

Pie and chips is hearty and filling, and it is a favourite in colder months.

DIY versus a fish and chip van

Collecting fish and chips for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s hard work. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. A van fries it right there, so it’s crisp.

Weighing up a takeaway order against booking a van? Think about numbers, timing and how hot you want the food. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Organising for someone else?

If your event is in a public place, such as a park or a street, check what permission you need first. The council or landowner will tell you what they need.

Having the party at home? Send a photo of where the van would park, and we’ll let you know if the van will fit.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
