A chip van near Egypt
Fish and chip van hire in Egypt, fried fresh
There’s no kitchen to hire and nothing to wash up. It needs a level, firm spot to park and a clear way in, which most drives, car parks and yards can offer. On the menu are gravy, pie and chips and haddock and chips, and we are often booked for wakes and gatherings after a funeral and community events and fairs.
In a small place like Egypt, the van frequently parks on a farm track, a field or a drive. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm ground matters more than anything. Everything we need comes with the van, and we pack up and leave the spot as we found it.
DIY versus a fish and chip van
You could do a chip-shop run for everyone yourself, but it rarely works for a crowd. By the time you’ve queued, paid and driven back, the batter has gone soft. With a van, it is fried on the spot.
Doing the food yourself saves money, but the host ends up running around. Booking the van means hot food and no stress.
Is a fish and chip van right for your event?
A plated meal needs a kitchen, more staff and usually costs more per head. A van needs only a level spot and permission to park. The date matters too: peak summer weekends and Christmas party Fridays book up first. It’s worth asking early.

What’s the nearest station to Egypt?
The closest is Burnham station, roughly 2.9 miles away.
What if we only have street parking?
That depends on local parking rules. A drive, car park or yard is generally easier; if it has to be the street, check with the council.

The sooner the better. Popular dates book up first, so contact us early.
Do you clear up afterwards?
We pack up and leave the pitch tidy when service is finished. Let us know about bins for guests.
What can guests choose from?
Chip-shop favourites: cod or haddock and chips, sausages and pies, with mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy. Our menu has the details.
Can you feed plenty of people?
It can be. Tell us your numbers and how long you have for food, and we will plan it with you.
Can you cook in the rain?
We cook inside the van, so rain does not stop us. Guests will appreciate cover near the hatch.

- The menu and how many choices
- How easy the site is to reach
- The length of service
- Any minimum charge
The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. Every booking gets its own quote.
What to tell us
To check availability and price, we need:
- Expected numbers
- Allergies and diets you know about
- A photo of the space and the way in
- The date and when you’d like to eat
Each quote is put together for your event. Give us your date first, and we’ll confirm whether we are available that day.
Working with your venue
Hosting at home? Send us a picture of the drive or the spot and the way in, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it works.
For big groups, the service window matters, so we can plan how to keep the queue short. Sending people up in groups helps.
