Party fish and chip van for Gomshall events

Party fish and chip van for your party in Gomshall

Food is fried to order, so it’s hot and crisp, not left out on a table for hours. We’re often asked to cater birthday parties and summer garden parties, with haddock and chips, curry sauce and sausage and chips.

Country parties near Gomshall suit a chip van: fried fresh and eaten outside. Plan a firm spot in case it rains. We serve from the hatch, so it is hot and generous, and service is quick once we are up and running.

How it works

Setting up takes a little while, because the oil has to come up to temperature, so we always arrive well ahead of your serving time. A summer party in Gomshall stays light until about 9:20pm at midsummer, so a garden party can run well into the evening. By late September sunset is around 7:05pm, so plan festoon lights for later parties.

  1. First, the plan: what, where and what time.
  2. You hear back on the date and the price.
  3. We agree exactly where the van parks.
  4. Batter, fish and chips all go into the fryer as people come up.
  5. We leave the spot as we found it.

What the van needs

Before the day, we will agree where the van parks. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • Light near the van and the queue for evening service
  • A clear area by the serving hatch
  • A short walk from the party

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

Gomshall parties: what to know

Gomshall is about 5 miles west of Dorking, in Surrey. Tell us where your party in Gomshall will be, and we’ll plan access and set-up before the day. Gomshall is one of 395 places in Surrey we cover. You can also see our page for Guildford, about 6 miles away.

Within reach of Gomshall are historic houses such as Hatchlands Park (2.9 miles north) and Clandon Park (3.4 miles north-west). If you are hiring a historic venue for a big birthday, check its rules on catering vans first. If you had Colekitchen Down in mind, ask the council or landowner first: vans cannot simply park up and serve in a public park. Gomshall is within about a mile of the Surrey Hills National Landscape, so a garden party here comes with a lovely backdrop.

FAQs for Gomshall

Do you come to venues in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for vehicles; ask your venue. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

Can you serve after a service at The Church of St James?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with somewhere for the van. Churches rarely have space for a catering van, so the food is generally elsewhere. Tell us where you will gather.

What do children eat?

Sausage and chips, generally. Let us know numbers and ages.

Is the fish gluten-free?

Our battered fish contains gluten, because standard batter uses wheat flour. Tell us about coeliac guests when you enquire, and we will be straight with you about what’s possible.

How do you handle allergies?

Let us know about allergies in advance, and we will give you the allergen information.

What happens if it rains?

Rain doesn’t stop the fryers: the cooking is inside the van. It is worth planning some cover for the queue.

When do you arrive?

We arrive well before service to park and heat the fryers. We’ll agree arrival and serving times with you.

Is the food cooked at the event?

Yes, always. Everything is fried fresh in the van, then handed over hot from the hatch.

What affects the price in Gomshall

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Travel, tolls and road charges
  • The minimum booking
  • How long we serve
  • Cod, haddock or both

The date matters too: summer Saturdays and December Fridays are the busiest days of the year. Ask about your date early.

What we need to know

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • A picture of the parking spot
  • The address or venue name
  • The spot you have in mind for the van
  • How to get in: gates, lanes and ground

To get a price, send us your details through our quote form. Give us the details of your party, and we will come back with availability and a quote.

Working with your venue

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, a facilities manager or an organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It saves passing messages back and forth.

If your event is in a public place, such as a park or a street, check what permission you need first. The council or landowner will tell you what they need.

Can’t we just order from the chip shop?

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Think about numbers, timing and how hot you want the food. Ask us for a quote and compare.

You could do a chip-shop run for everyone yourself, but it rarely works for a crowd. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. With a van, it is fried on the spot.

Why choose party fish and chip van in Gomshall?

No washing up, no cold buffet to throw away, which makes the morning after much easier.
