A chip van near East Village

Wedding fish and chip van for your wedding in East Village

Good evening food keeps people on the dance floor, and few things are as welcome as hot fish and chips late in the evening. We are often asked to cater engagement parties and relaxed, informal receptions, with haddock and chips, mushy peas and curry sauce.

In East Village, parking for suppliers is part of the plan. Many London venues have a loading bay or yard, which is ideal for the van. Food is served straight from the hatch, so every portion is hot, and the queue keeps moving.

The process

We get there well before service, park the van and get the fryers going. Guests generally gather round the hatch once service starts. At midsummer, sunset in East Village is about 9:20pm, so the van can serve before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the route in and send a price.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

FAQs for East Village

What about parking in East Village?

It can be, so tell us about driveways, yards, car parks or a council suspension. We’ll plan around it.

What’s the nearest station to East Village?

East Village has its own station: Stratford International station.

Can you cater for allergies?

We provide allergen information for everything we serve. Fish and gluten are the main ones in battered fish. Tell us about allergies in advance.

Can you go on a lawn or field?

It depends on the ground. Tell us about it when you enquire, and we’ll advise.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We take the van and everything with it, and leave the spot tidy. Bins for guests are worth planning.

How soon do we need to book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays and Christmas party Fridays. Even at short notice, it’s worth asking.

What can guests choose from?

The classics: cod, haddock, chips, sausages and pies, with mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy. See the menu.

Is there a non-fish option?

There is: sausages and pies, with chips. Give us a rough idea of numbers.

Planning the van’s spot

If a spot isn’t suitable, we will tell you, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:

  • The site’s agreement to a catering van
  • A level, firm spot the van can drive onto
  • A route in without tight gates or low branches

East Village is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about driveways, yards, car parks or a council parking suspension.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

What comes out of the fryer

Gravy

Mushy peas

Mushy peas are made from dried marrowfat peas, soaked and cooked until soft. They’re the side most people expect.

Should I sort the food myself?

Collecting fish and chips for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is hard work. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. A van fries it right there, so it is crisp.

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. We are happy to send a quote so you can compare.

Looking after everyone

We need to know about dietary needs and allergies in advance, and we’ll be straight with you about what’s possible. To make it work smoothly:

  • Don’t forget your suppliers
  • Ask about dietary needs on the invitation
  • Plan bins by the hatch
  • Have a back-up for guests with special diets

We arrive during the reception and set up quietly, so we’re ready at the agreed time.

Napkins or wet wipes by the van are a kindness to anyone in their wedding best.

Prices and what affects them

These are the factors that matter most:

  • The number of meals
  • Parking and the way in
  • Peak dates such as summer Saturdays
  • How far we travel

The cost per head normally falls as numbers rise, since the van and set-up are much the same for any size. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

What we need to know

To speed things up, tell us:

  • A picture of the parking spot
  • Rough numbers for adults and children
  • Your date and serving time
  • The venue or postcode

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote: where the van would park, how to get in, numbers and timings. Photos of the spot and the way in help. To send your details, use our quote form.

Is a fish and chip van right for your wedding?

Late-night snacks from the venue can be small. A chip van makes sure nobody goes home hungry. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. Every booking gets its own quote.
