Fresh fish and chips in Lingfield

About our wedding fish and chip van in Lingfield

We park close to the reception, and guests drift out to queue and chat. It becomes a lovely moment in the evening. For engagement celebrations and day-after gatherings, we can cook cod and chips, mushy peas and haddock and chips and more.

Weddings in a place like Lingfield often feel personal: a local church, then a marquee in a garden or field. The van parks on a firm spot nearby for the evening. Tell us about access to the field or garden. We cook inside the van, right where your guests are, so the batter is still crisp when it is handed over.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you are organising for someone else, whether you’re a planner, a facilities manager or an organiser, we are happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It keeps things simple.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep everyone informed on the day.

Can’t we just order from the chip shop?

You could do a chip-shop run for everyone yourself, but it rarely works for a crowd. By the time you’ve queued, paid and driven back, the batter has gone soft. A van fries it right there, so it’s crisp.

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Step by step

The van turns up at the agreed time, parks where we agreed and the hatch goes up. Once the oil is hot, the first portions go out right on schedule. At midsummer, sunset in Lingfield is about 9:20pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and venue, and a quote.
  3. Timings are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. We set up during the reception and start frying at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we clear our spot and leave you to the party.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm the van is allowed on site
  • Give us your final numbers and allergies
  • Leave room in front of the hatch for a queue

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • The date and time of year
  • The number of meals
  • Cod, haddock or both
  • How easy the site is to reach

The date matters too: peak summer weekends and Christmas party Fridays book up first. Ask about your date early.

Getting an accurate quote

You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:

  • A picture of where the van would go
  • Rough numbers for adults and children
  • The date and time of the event
  • Where the van would park

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote: where the van would park, how to get in, numbers and timings. Photos of the spot and the way in help. To send your details, fill in our quote form.

What comes out of the fryer

Curry sauce

The chip shop’s own curry sauce is mild and a little sweet, great with chips and sausages.

Sausage and chips

A sausage and chips is the chip-shop classic for younger guests and fish-dodgers.

Before you choose a spot

We will agree the van’s spot with you before the day. It needs to tick a few simple boxes:

  • A level hardstanding, drive or firm lawn
  • A clear area by the serving hatch
  • Lighting nearby for evening events

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

From the hatch

  • Cod and chips
  • Haddock and chips
  • Evening fish and chips
  • Mushy peas
  • Curry sauce
  • Sausage and chips

Questions from Lingfield

Can the van go to venues in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for vehicles; ask your venue. We will work to whatever the site needs.

Could you trade in Centenary Fields?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

Can the van be part of the photos?

It generally ends up in a few photos. Add bunting or lights for the photos.

Do you come to Lingfield?

Yes, we do. We serve events in Lingfield and across Surrey. Tell us your date and we’ll check availability.

How fast is service?

A short menu and staggered groups keep things moving. Tell us your timings and we’ll advise.

How much is fish and chip van hire?

We quote for each booking, based on your numbers and timings. Tell us your date and rough numbers and we’ll reply with a price.

Do we need to provide equipment?

All the cooking happens in the van. Let us know what’s available at the site.

Do we need to provide anything?

Let us know about power and water at the site when you enquire, and we’ll confirm what we need.

Looking after everyone

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:

  • Confirm the van can park at the venue
  • Add an allergy question to your RSVP card
  • Have bins ready for paper and trays
  • Talk to us about evening numbers

We arrive during the reception and set up quietly, so the fryers are hot when you’re ready.

A chalkboard sign with the menu by the van adds a nice touch.

Is a fish and chip van right for your wedding?

Next to a cold buffet, a chip van serves hot food fresh from the fryer, and nothing sits out drying up. Distance and any road charges make a difference, so tell us exactly where your wedding is.
