Fresh fish and chips in Milebush

Takeaway run or book a van?

You could do a chip-shop run for everyone yourself, but it rarely works for a crowd. By the time you’ve queued, paid and driven back, the batter has gone soft. A van fries it right there, so it’s crisp.

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Think about numbers, timing and how hot you want the food. Ask us for a quote and compare.

About our wedding fish and chip van in Milebush

Evening wedding food from a fish and chip van is a favourite. Hours after the wedding breakfast, guests are ready to eat again, and hot fish and chips hits the spot. For coastal-themed receptions and garden and marquee receptions, we will put together a menu of sausage and chips, mushy peas and cod and chips and more.

A wedding in a small place like Milebush frequently means a field, a barn or a family garden. A chip van is made for that: no kitchen needed, just a firm spot near the party. Let us know about access and ground. Let us know about allergies and dietary needs in advance, and we’ll tell you honestly what we can offer before you book.

Most drives, car parks, yards and firm lawns can take the van, but there are a few things to check:

  • Somewhere close to where people will eat
  • A route in without tight gates or low branches
  • A level hardstanding, drive or firm lawn

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

What we serve

Step by step

On the day, we position the van, set up the hatch and get the fryers up to temperature. Once we are hot, we cook to order, so we time it to your schedule. For a summer wedding in Milebush, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so evening food at about 8:30pm is in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it’s dark by about 3:50pm in December, plan lighting by the van.

  1. First, the plan: what, where and what time.
  2. We come back with availability and a clear price.
  3. We agree exactly where the van parks.
  4. On the day, everything is cooked to order, so nothing sits in a hot cabinet.
  5. We leave the spot as we found it.

Getting ready for the day

Sausage and chips

For anyone who does not fancy fish, there’s sausage and chips, and children love it.

Haddock and chips

Some people swear by haddock: sweeter and a touch firmer than cod. Tell us if you’d like to offer it.

For planners, venues and organisers

Organising a club, school or community event in Milebush? A fish and chip van draws people in and almost everyone likes it. Give us the details and we’ll suggest how it could work.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Weddings in Milebush: venues, ceremonies and travel

Milebush is about 6 miles south of Maidstone, in Kent. Give us the address of your wedding in Milebush, and we will plan the route and the parking spot. Milebush is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent where we bring the van. Our bookings stretch from Milebush to Canterbury (26 miles away).

It’s worth telling train travellers that the closest railway station is Marden station, roughly 1.1 miles south-west of the centre. With the High Weald National Landscape within about 7 miles, there are country venues, barns and gardens nearby. Ask your venue about vehicle access for the van.

For weddings in TN12, we just need to know where the van can park and a serving time. That could mean a wedding at a home on Maidstone Road and Milebush Lane, as long as there’s somewhere for the van. Close by, we cover weddings in St Ann's Green (1 mile east), Underling Green (1 mile north-east), Wanshurst Green (1 mile south-east), Cross-at-Hand (2 miles east) and Marden Thorn (2 miles south). Further out, we also take the van to Maidstone (6 miles north), Sittingbourne (15 miles north-east), Sevenoaks (15 miles north-west), Royal Tunbridge Wells (11 miles west), Tonbridge (10 miles west) and Kings Hill (7 miles north-west).

A little further out are Sutton Valence Castle (4.2 miles north-east) and Oakwood Hospital (5.7 miles north).

Why choose a fish and chip van in Milebush?

A hog roast is a classic for weddings, but it’s one dish, and some guests don’t eat pork. A van gives a choice of fish, sausage or pie. There’s no one-size-fits-all price for a fish and chip van. A one-hour staff lunch is a different job from serving all afternoon at a fête. We set everything out in your quote.

Why book with us

  • Fish and chips fried fresh on site
  • Classic food your guests already know
  • We cook inside the van, whatever the weather
  • A quote that spells everything out

How we price a fish and chip van for your wedding

Each booking is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • How far we travel
  • Parking and the way in
  • Your choice of menu
  • Any minimum charge

The date matters too: summer Saturdays and December Fridays are the busiest days of the year. It’s worth asking early.

What to tell us

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • The date and time of the event
  • The venue or postcode
  • Where you’d like the van to go
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

It’s easy to get a price: share your date, address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat. We will send a clear quote that says what’s included.

Milebush questions

Can the van go to venues in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles and ground, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

Can you serve after a service at St Michael and All Angels Church?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with somewhere for the van. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Can you serve children?

Of course. Sausage and chips is a favourite with children. Include children in your numbers.

What time will you serve?

At the time you choose. Most couples go for just after the first dance.

Where will the van go at our venue?

Often, if the ground is firm and the venue agrees. We will agree the spot in advance.

How quickly can you serve everyone?

That depends on numbers, menu and timing. Give us your numbers and service window, and we will plan to keep the queue moving.

Which areas do you serve?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

Do we need to provide equipment?

We bring the van and everything we need to cook. You provide a suitable spot and permission to park.

Allergies and dietary needs

A little planning makes sure everyone is looked after. Here’s how:

  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Check your venue’s rules on outside caterers early
  • Put bins near the van

Remember the band, photographer and venue staff in your numbers.

Festoon lights by the van look lovely in the evening photos.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
