Fresh fish and chips in The Valley

Wedding fish and chip van in The Valley, fried fresh

Once the fryers are on, guests find the van on their own. The queue becomes a place to catch up. We’re often asked to cater engagement celebrations and vow renewals and anniversaries, serving mushy peas, sausage and chips and cod and chips.

Rural weddings around The Valley have a magic of their own, and fish and chips at dusk adds to it. Plan access and a back-up spot in case of rain. Everything is fried fresh at your wedding, not cooked earlier and kept warm.

Takeaway run or book a van?

Weighing up a takeaway order against booking a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. We are happy to send a quote so you can compare.

Ordering in from a local chip shop is an option. The problem is timing: big orders take a long time, and the food is cooling while it travels. A van solves that by cooking on site.

Why fried-to-order beats a buffet

Formal evening food costs more and slows the party down. A van keeps it relaxed. Dates make a difference: summer Saturdays and December Fridays are the busiest days of the year. It is worth asking early.

What you get with us

  • Served hot, straight from the hatch
  • The queue at the hatch gets people talking
  • Bookings across Kent, including The Valley
  • Fried fresh, not kept warm

Food your guests will love

Gravy

Gravy brings a bit of warmth to the meal, especially in winter.

Curry sauce

The chip shop’s own curry sauce is mild and a little sweet, great with chips and sausages.

Allergies and dietary needs

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Add an allergy question to your RSVP card
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Plan bins by the hatch
  • Talk to us about evening numbers

Once everyone has eaten, we pack up and leave you to the party.

Festoon lights by the van look lovely in the evening photos.

How to compare vans

Your questions about a fish and chip van for your wedding in The Valley

Could you trade in Spuckles and Kennelling Woods?

Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

Is The Valley close to London?

Roughly 42 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Do we need to provide anything?

Somewhere suitable to park, with permission. Mention any power or water available and we will confirm the rest.

Where do you take the van?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, including The Valley.

Do you take everything away?

The pitch is left as we found it. It helps to have bins near the hatch.

What does the van need?

Less than you might think: a hard surface or firm, dry grass, with a clear way in. If in doubt, send a picture.

What time will you serve?

Most couples choose between 8pm and 9:30pm, after the first dance. We will fit your running order.

When do you arrive?

We arrive well before service to park and heat the fryers. Timings are agreed in advance so food is ready when you want it.

Step by step

The van turns up at the agreed time, parks where we agreed and the hatch goes up. Once the oil is hot, the first portions go out right on schedule. At midsummer, sunset in The Valley is about 9:15pm, so the van can serve before or after your sunset photos. Sunset is around 8:45pm in late May and 7:00pm in late September.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check the venue and the date, then send a quote.
  3. We agree arrival and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. We set up during the reception and start frying at the agreed time.
  5. We pack up when service is finished, leaving the pitch tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Pick a flat, firm place for the van to park
  • Confirm the van is allowed on site
  • Arrange somewhere dry for the queue
