Fresh fish and chips in Pixham

Care home fish and chips in Pixham, cooked to order

The van parks in the car park, on the drive or on a firm lawn, clear of ambulance access. For lunch for the care team and day centres and lunch clubs, we’ll put together a menu of pie and chips, haddock and chips and gravy and more.

Rural care homes near Pixham can feel a long way from the seaside, so a chip van visit is a special day. We keep the menu short: a few classics done properly keeps the food fresh and the queue moving.

Why choose care home fish and chips in Pixham?

It’s food residents know and enjoy.

We can help if you’re planning any of the following:

  • Fish and chip Fridays
  • Lunch for the care team
  • Summer fêtes and open days
  • Birthday treats for residents

Residents who remember days out at Box Hill may enjoy talking about it over fish and chips.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Allergen information for each item
  • Any travel, parking or access charges
  • When payment is due
  • The cancellation terms

Our booking checklist

Prices and what affects them

Each booking is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • The minimum booking
  • The length of service
  • The number of meals
  • The day of the week

Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll suggest a menu and timing to match. Keeping the menu short is normally the best value.

Getting an accurate quote

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • A photo of the parking spot
  • Anything awkward about the way in
  • Roughly how many people, including children
  • Allergies and diets you know about

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many people, along with your serving time, and we’ll reply with a quote. To get started, send us your details through our quote form.

A fish and chip van or other catering?

Next to a delivery order, a van serves hot food on site, so it isn’t lukewarm by the time it is plated. There is no one-size-fits-all price for a fish and chip van. A one-hour staff lunch is a different job from serving all afternoon at a fête. We set everything out in your quote.

Why us?

  • Rain does not stop the fryers
  • A quote that spells everything out
  • Fried fresh, not kept warm
  • A menu almost everyone likes

Take a look at our prices page or our guide to van hire costs.

The process

We need a level, firm place to park the van, near your residents, and we agree exactly where before the day. With darkness by about 3:55pm in December, winter van visits in Pixham suit lunchtime.

  1. Start with three things: the date, the place and a rough headcount.
  2. Show us where the van would go, and we’ll confirm it works.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm the arrival time and serving time.
  4. The van rolls up, the hatch opens and the fryers get going for residents.
  5. Once the last portion is out, we pack up and go.

How to prepare

  • Leave room in front of the hatch for a queue
  • Arrange somewhere dry for the queue
  • Make sure the van can get in

Allergies and dietary needs

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:

  • Ask about smaller portions
  • Plan it with your catering manager
  • Count families who are joining in
  • Share residents’ diets and allergies with us

Families can join in, with numbers agreed in advance.

A regular date gives everyone something to look forward to.

DIY versus a fish and chip van

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For bigger numbers, a van makes life easier, and nobody has to miss the care home visit.

If you do order from a chip shop, ring well ahead and collect as close to eating time as you can. For anything more than a handful of people, a van is usually the easier option.

Planners, venues and businesses

For big groups, the service window matters, so we can plan service to match. Sending people up in groups helps.

Many venues set rules for catering vans: parking spots, arrival times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we will work through them with you.

Pixham: your questions answered

What’s the nearest station to Pixham?

Pixham has its own station: Dorking station.

Can the van go to venues in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles and ground, so check with yours. We will work to whatever the site needs.

How do you handle allergies?

Yes, we can tell you which allergens are in each item. Battered fish contains fish and, in standard batter, gluten. Send us any allergies in writing.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Yes. Children usually love sausage and chips. Include children in your numbers.

Does the batter contain gluten?

Our battered fish contains gluten, because standard batter uses wheat flour. Let us know about coeliac residents in advance, and we will tell you honestly what we can offer.

Which areas do you serve?

We take the van across London and the South East, including Surrey. Find your area.

Do you take everything away?

The pitch is left as we found it. Bins for residents are worth planning.

Can the van park on grass?

Frequently, if the ground is firm and dry. Soft, wet ground can trap any vehicle, so plan a back-up spot.

Food your guests will love

Curry sauce

Some people will not eat chips without curry sauce, so we bring it along.

Pie and chips

A pie and chips is proper comfort food, and it is a favourite in colder months.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
