Fresh fish and chips in Egypt

About our Christmas party fish and chips in Egypt

Christmas fairs and lights switch-ons suit a chip van too, with hot food for visitors in the cold. For office Christmas parties and boxing Day and New Year gatherings, we will put together a menu of cod and chips, pie and chips and sausage and chips for your guests.

Near Egypt, country lanes are dark in winter, so let us know about access and lighting. Everything is fried fresh at your Christmas party, not cooked earlier and kept warm, and served the moment it comes out of the fryer.

DIY versus a fish and chip van

Doing the food yourself saves money, but the host ends up running around. With a fish and chip van, you get hot food without the work.

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. Ask us for a quote and compare.

A fish and chip van or other catering?

A cold buffet in December is not much of a treat. Hot fish and chips is. A chip van frequently compares well with a plated meal, as there is no kitchen to hire and nothing to wash up. Ask us for a quote.

Why book our van in Egypt

  • No kitchen needed
  • We cover Egypt and the whole of Slough
  • Mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy on the side
  • Hot food handed straight over

See how we price or what a fish and chip van costs.

What happens on the day

Rain does not stop the fryers, because the cooking happens inside the van. It is worth thinking about cover for the queue, though. By about 3:55pm in late December, it is dark in Egypt; park the van where there is good light, and keep the walk short.

  1. Tell us what you’re planning and when you’d like to eat.
  2. You hear back on the date and the price.
  3. We agree exactly where the van parks, and how it gets in.
  4. Batter, fish and chips all go into the fryer as people come up.
  5. We leave the spot as we found it.

Getting ready for the day

  • Keep space clear for guests at the hatch
  • Confirm the van is allowed on site
  • Plan a bit of cover near the hatch if rain is likely

Working with your venue

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on arrival and serving times.

Many venues set rules for catering vans: where a van can park, access times and the paperwork they want. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will confirm what we can provide.

What the van needs

No two venues are the same, so we will ask about yours when you get in touch. Generally, we look for:

  • Room in front of the hatch for a queue
  • A level hardstanding, drive or firm lawn
  • A short walk from the party

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.

What we serve

  • Cod and chips
  • Haddock and chips
  • Pie and chips
  • Sausage and chips
  • Gravy
  • Curry sauce
  • Mushy peas

Egypt: your questions answered

How far is Egypt from London?

About 23 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Do you come out to small places like Egypt?

Not at all. We serve villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Where can the van park?

Less than you might think: a hard surface or firm, dry grass, with a clear way in. If in doubt, send a photo.

How early do Christmas dates go?

As early as possible. Fridays in December book up first.

What do we need to supply?

Somewhere suitable to park, with permission. Tell us whether there is power or water nearby and we’ll take it from there.

How long are you on site?

That depends on your numbers and timings. We agree arrival, serving and finishing times with you before the day.

Can the van park on grass?

It depends on the ground. Tell us about it when you enquire, and send a picture if you can.

Can the van park on the street?

Only in a legal space, or with the council’s permission. Ask your council early.

The menu, dish by dish

Cod and chips

For many people, cod and chips is the definitive version. Fried to order in the van, it is hot, crisp and generous.

Curry sauce

The chip shop’s own curry sauce is mild and a little sweet, perfect with chips or a sausage.

Perfect for your Christmas party in Egypt

Rain or shine, the fryers keep going.

We can help if you’re planning any of the following:

  • Family Christmas get-togethers
  • Warehouse and depot Christmas lunches
  • Boxing Day and New Year gatherings
  • Christmas fairs at schools

A Christmas fair at St John the Evangelist is just the kind of event a chip van suits.

What your quote should include

  • What the price includes, item by item
  • Whether there’s a minimum
  • Allergen information for each item
  • How much space the van takes up

Diets, allergies and planning

We take allergies seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Confirm allergies by email
  • Ask about your date in the autumn, or earlier
  • Agree the spot with the venue
  • Arrange something for anyone with needs we cannot meet

We park somewhere lit and get the fryers hot.

A charity collection for a local food bank is a nice touch.
