Fresh fish and chips in Clerkenwell

Corporate fish and chip catering in Clerkenwell, fried fresh

We keep the menu short so a lunch break is enough: fish, sausages, pies and chips, with the classic sides. Whether it is open days and warehouse, depot and site teams, we can cook pie and chips, haddock and chips and mushy peas.

Around Clerkenwell, workplace bookings tend to use car parks, yards and loading bays. Get facilities’ approval and plan access early. Every portion is cooked to order on the day, not cooked earlier and kept warm.

Step by step

On the day, we park up on the agreed spot, set up and heat the fryers. Once we’re hot, we cook to order, so we time it to your schedule. Lunchtime bookings in Clerkenwell are in daylight all year; winter evening events are dark by about 3:55pm, so plan lighting for later events. A summer after-work event has daylight until about 9:20pm.

  1. You tell us the date, the site, rough numbers and your break times.
  2. You get a quote and answers to facilities’ questions.
  3. We agree where the van parks and when it arrives with you or facilities.
  4. We cook to order for each group as they come out.
  5. Afterwards, we pack up and leave the car park tidy.

How to prepare

  • Check the venue or landowner is happy for the van to park
  • Plan a bit of cover near the hatch if rain is likely
  • Pick a flat, firm place for the van to park

A chip van compared with other options

A barbecue needs someone to cook. With a van, everyone gets a break. Distance and any road charges make a difference, so tell us exactly where your staff event is.

Why us?

  • Something for staff to gather round
  • No kitchen needed
  • Bookings across Greater London, including Clerkenwell
  • Fried fresh, not kept warm

See our prices page or what a fish and chip van costs.

What the van needs

Before the day, we will agree where the van parks. It needs to tick a few simple boxes:

  • Somewhere close to where people will eat
  • Light near the van and the queue for evening service
  • A level, firm spot the van can drive onto

As a London location, Clerkenwell is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about driveways, yards, car parks or a council parking suspension.

Not sure about the spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Takeaway run or book a van?

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For larger numbers, or when you want hot food, a van takes the pressure off, and you get to enjoy the day.

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Consider your numbers and how fresh you want it. We are happy to send a quote so you can compare.

Questions from Clerkenwell

Could you trade in King Square Gardens?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Ask them first.

Is parking a problem for the van in Clerkenwell?

London parking needs planning: let us know about off-street space or permits. We’ll work around it.

When should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so it pays to ask early.

Can you come onto our site?

That’s up to your site, but car parks and yards typically work well.

Can you serve children?

Of course. Children generally love sausage and chips. Include children in your numbers.

Where can the van park?

A level, firm spot it can drive onto, close to where people will eat, with room for a queue at the hatch. Tell us about gates, lanes and soft ground.

Can coeliacs eat the battered fish?

Standard batter is made with wheat flour, so battered fish contains gluten. Tell us about coeliac staff when you enquire, and we’ll be straight with you about what’s possible.

Do you come to Clerkenwell?

We do. We serve events in Clerkenwell and across Greater London. Send us your date to check availability.

Who books corporate fish and chip catering in Clerkenwell?

Hot food in the car park, rain or shine, because the cooking is inside the van.

If you are planning any of these, we can help:

Allergies and dietary needs

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Give us break and shift times
  • Send round an allergy question
  • Ask facilities about access
  • Plan an alternative for anyone we cannot cater for

Keep the queue clear of fire exits and traffic in the car park or yard.

A gazebo near the hatch helps on wet days.
