Why fried-to-order beats a buffet

A big takeaway order arrives late and lukewarm. A van fries on the spot. Comparing vans? Look at what each quote includes: service time, menu, travel, any minimum and VAT. We set ours out clearly.

What you get with us

  • The classic sides: peas, curry sauce and gravy
  • Nothing for you to cook or clear
  • Events in The Village and across Windsor and Maidenhead
  • Quick service from the hatch

About our corporate fish and chip catering in The Village

Food is fried to order, so it’s hot whether you are first or last in the queue. Whether it’s leaving dos and a monthly Fish Friday, we will put together a menu of cod and chips, mushy peas and pie and chips.

At country workplaces around The Village, a chip van brings a hot lunch to wherever the team is. Let us know about tracks and gates. We cook inside the van, right where your staff are, and the food reaches them hot and crisp.

Step by step

Expect a friendly, organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up where we have agreed, and cook and serve without fuss. Lunchtime bookings in The Village are in daylight all year; winter evening events are dark by about 3:55pm, so plan lighting for later events. Summer events have daylight until around 9:25pm.

  1. You tell us the date, the site, rough numbers and your break times.
  2. You get a quote and answers to facilities’ questions.
  3. We arrange the van’s spot and arrival with the site.
  4. We serve hot from the hatch through your break or shifts.
  5. We pack up and leave the space as we found it.

Planning a team lunch in The Village

The Village is about 2 miles south of Windsor, in Windsor and Maidenhead. Around The Village, we park wherever there is level, firm ground, close to your staff. The Village is one of 57 towns and villages in Windsor and Maidenhead where we bring the van. Our nearest city page is Guildford, about 14 miles away.

Central London is about 24 miles from The Village. Among the historic houses close to The Village are St Leonard's Hill (1.7 miles north) and Frogmore House (2.8 miles north-east). Historic venues suit client days, but check their vehicle rules before planning a van.

This part of Windsor and Maidenhead takes in SL4. We can serve a staff event on streets such as Sheet Street Road and Forest Road, as long as there is somewhere for the van. If your venue is just outside The Village, we also cover Cranbourne (1 mile west), Woodside (1 mile south-west), Plaistow Green (2 miles west), Cheapside (2 miles south) and Brookside (2 miles south-west). Nearby you’ll also find Windsor Castle (3.1 miles north-east) and King Edward VII Hospital (2.3 miles north-east). Open spaces near The Village include Bray Pit and Virginia Water Lake.

Should I sort the food myself?

Ordering from a local shop? Call ahead and collect at the last minute. For anything more than a handful of people, a van is generally the easier option.

You could do a chip-shop run for everyone yourself, but it rarely works for a crowd. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. With a van, it’s fried on the spot.

What affects the price in The Village

Your quote will be clear. The main things that affect it are:

  • Your choice of menu
  • Peak dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Numbers
  • Service time

The date matters too: summer Saturdays and December Fridays are the busiest days of the year. Ask about your date early.

What we need to know

You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • Where you’d like the van to go
  • A picture of the parking spot
  • Your date and serving time
  • Anything awkward about the way in

Every booking is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually need. To ask for one, use our quote form.

Diets, allergies and planning

Allergies are taken seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Have a back-up for special diets
  • Confirm allergies by email
  • A pre-order helps with numbers and allergies
  • Ask staff about allergies with a simple form

We arrive before your break to park and heat the fryers, so we’re ready when the first group comes out.

A pre-order list speeds things up and helps with allergies.

Food your guests will love

Mushy peas

Mushy peas are a must for plenty of fish and chip fans.

Cod and chips

Cod has big, soft white flakes and a mild flavour, and it’s what most people in the south ask for. We batter it and fry it to order, so it’s crisp when it reaches you.

Planners, venues and businesses

Planning an event for a club, school or charity in The Village? Fish and chips is a reliable crowd-pleaser. Give us the details and we will suggest how it could work.

If your event is in a public place, such as a park or a street, check what permission you need first. Ask the council or landowner early.

Your questions about a fish and chip van for your team in The Village

Do you come out to small places like The Village?

Not at all. We serve villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Can the van park in Windsor Great Park?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them first.

Is everything cooked fresh?

Yes. Everything is fried fresh in the van, then handed over hot from the hatch.

Can you feed staff across different shifts?

Yes, with the shift pattern in advance. We’ll agree a service plan before the day.

Do you serve visitors at events?

We do. Visitors love it.

What will facilities need from you?

Sites vary, so ask facilities for their list and pass it on.

Can you cook in the rain?

We carry on in the rain, because the fryers are inside. Soft ground after heavy rain is the bigger issue, so have a hard-surface spot in mind.

What’s on the menu?

Fish and chips, of course, with sausages and pies for anyone who does not want fish. Mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy go on the side.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
