Fresh fish and chips in London

Can’t we just order from the chip shop?

For a small group, making your own food can work. For bigger numbers, a van makes life easier, and you get to enjoy the day.

Not sure whether to order in or book a van? Think about numbers, timing and how hot you want the food. We are happy to send a quote so you can compare.

Film set catering in London, fried fresh

On a long shoot day, a good hot lunch keeps morale up. A fish and chip van parks at the unit base and fries to order. Typical bookings include crew morale days and lunch at the unit base, serving haddock and chips, mushy peas and pie and chips.

London has plenty of locations, from streets to industrial sites. We need a level spot at base. You’ll know what’s included before you book: serving times, the menu and anything else agreed.

A chip van compared with other options

Many locations are miles from shops. The van solves that. Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll suggest a menu and timing to match. A short menu is often the best value.

The menu, dish by dish

Sausage and chips

Sausage and chips is the go-to for anyone who isn’t a fish fan, especially with curry sauce.

Mushy peas

Mushy peas are made from dried marrowfat peas, soaked and cooked until soft. They’re the side most people expect.

Diets, allergies and planning

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:

  • Update numbers if they change
  • Have a back-up for special diets
  • Tell us about coeliac crew specifically
  • Give us a contact for call-time changes

Fewer choices mean faster service in a lunch break.

A chip van wrap party is a great way to finish a shoot.

Location catering around London

London is in Greater London. From the centre of London to the outskirts, we offer the same service: fish and chips fried to order, served hot and quoted clearly. We take the van to all 764 towns and villages across Greater London.

With the A2 and A10 nearby, London is easy for the van and the trucks to reach. Among the historic houses close to London are Mansion House (1 mile north) and Dr Johnson's House (1.2 miles north-west). Period locations like these typically keep vehicles well away from the house, so agree the base early.

Here we cover the CR0, E14, CR4 and SW11 postcode area, so your shoot can be anywhere in it. Your shoot could be at a house on Walcot Square, Surrey Square and Sutherland Square or the roads around them, as long as there’s somewhere for the van. You will find London on the A2 and A10, so it is easy for us to reach with the van. Close by, we cover shoots in Walworth (1 mile south), Bermondsey (1 mile east), Camberwell (2 miles south), South Bermondsey (2 miles south-east) and Surrey Canal (2 miles south-east). Larger places within reach include City of Westminster (3 miles west), Marylebone (3 miles north-west), Kensington (5 miles west), Walthamstow (7 miles north-east), Hampstead (5 miles north-west) and Ruislip (14 miles west). London is one of the larger places we cover in Greater London, with lots of choice for shoots.

A little further out are Gabriel's Wharf (0.8 miles north-west) and Museum of Life Sciences (under half a mile north-east). Green spaces nearby include Bellenden Road Nature Garden and St. James's Park Lake.

  • Schools near London include London School of Musical Theatre (under half a mile west) and Ark Globe Academy (less than half a mile south)
  • Nearby, you’ll find Trinity Arms Public House (within half a mile south-east)
  • Local facilities include The BFI Reuben Library (1 mile north-west) and County of London (1.1 miles north)

Step by step

Changes on the day are fine: we can start a little later or slow the pace. Winter shoots near London chase the light, which goes at about 3:55pm in December.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the route in and send a price.
  3. We arrive early to park and heat the fryers.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

Getting ready for the day
