How our film set catering works in Worthing

We work with your location manager or production office on access, parking and timings. On the menu are pie and chips, mushy peas and haddock and chips, and we’re frequently booked for treat days on a long shoot and seaside shoots.

Shoots in Worthing use all kinds of locations. The van needs level ground at the unit base. We serve from the hatch, so it is hot and generous, and service is quick once we’re up and running.

How the day works

There is very little for you to do on the day: point us to the spot and get on with your shoot. The frying and serving are down to us. On a winter shoot near Worthing, the light goes by about 4:00pm, so a late lunch or wrap at base needs lighting. In summer, light lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. Start with three things: the date, the place and a rough headcount.
  2. Show us where the van would go, and we will confirm it works.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm the arrival time and serving time.
  4. The van rolls up, the hatch opens and the fryers get going for the crew.
  5. Once the last portion is out, we pack up and go.

Getting ready for the day

  • Have a level parking spot ready
  • Leave room in front of the hatch for a queue
  • Ensure the van can get in

Every site is different, so we ask about the spot and the way in before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • The location’s agreement

  • Room for the crew to queue

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

What a fish and chip van costs

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Service time
  • How far we travel
  • Whether a minimum applies
  • Parking and the way in

There’s no one-size-fits-all price for a fish and chip van. A one-hour staff lunch is a different job from serving all afternoon at a fête. We set everything out in your quote.

What we need to know

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • Expected numbers
  • Allergies and diets you know about
  • Your date and serving time
  • Where the event is

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many people, plus when you’d like to eat, and we will reply with a quote. Just use our quote form.

A chip van compared with other options

A full location catering unit suits long shoots with three meals a day. A van is great for short jobs and crew treats. Many fish and chip vans set a minimum, because the van, fuel and travel cost the same for a small group. Ask us what applies to your shoot.

What you get with us

  • Classic food your crew already know
  • Fish and chips fried fresh on site
  • Works on wet days as well as sunny ones
  • Mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy on the side

Food your guests will love

Curry sauce

The chip shop’s own curry sauce is mild and a little sweet, perfect with chips or a sausage.

Cod and chips

Cod is the classic: mild, white and flaky, and it’s the favourite in much of the south. We batter it and fry it to order.

FAQs for Worthing

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

Which station is closest to Worthing?

West Worthing station, about 0.5 miles south-east of the centre.

What if the weather’s bad?

We cook inside the van, so rain does not stop us. It’s worth planning some cover for the queue.

How much does a fish and chip van for the crew cost in Worthing?

The price depends on numbers, menu, service time and travel. Send us the details for a quote.

Is grass a problem?

Frequently, if the ground is firm and dry. After heavy rain, soft grass can be a problem for any vehicle, so plan a back-up spot.

Which areas do you serve?

We take the van across London and the South East, including West Sussex. See all areas.

How long are you on site?

It depends on numbers and the service time. We agree arrival, serving and finishing times with you before the day.

Can you cater for allergies?

We provide allergen information for everything we serve. Battered fish contains fish and, in standard batter, gluten. Tell us about allergies in advance.
