Wedding fish and chip van in Worthing

About our wedding fish and chip van in Worthing

Some evening guests arrive without having eaten, and day guests ate hours ago. Hot food fried to order looks after both. Typical bookings include food after the first dance and day-after gatherings, serving sausage and chips, mushy peas and curry sauce.

Worthing has plenty of wedding venues, from hotels and function rooms to clubs and gardens. A chip van suits a reception with somewhere to park outside. Timings are planned around your wedding, whether that is a first dance, a lunch break or a service time.

Diets, allergies and planning

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. Here are a few tips:

  • Talk to us about evening numbers
  • Put bins near the van
  • Name a friend or coordinator as our contact
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically

Evening food normally goes out between about 8pm and 9:30pm, once the first dance is done.

A string of lights by the hatch makes a great photo.

What a fish and chip van costs

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Service time
  • Whether a minimum applies
  • The date and time of year
  • The number of meals

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll suggest a menu and timing to match. Keeping the menu short is usually the best value.

What we need to know

You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • Expected numbers
  • Access details such as gates and narrow lanes
  • Where the van would park
  • Dietary needs, with numbers

We quote for each event separately, so the price fits what you actually need. For a quote, use our quote form.

Worthing questions

Can you serve after a service at St Andrew's Church?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby where the van can park. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

How far is Worthing from London?

Roughly 48 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Do you come to Worthing?

We do. We serve events in Worthing and across West Sussex. Send us your date to check availability.

What’s on the menu?

Proper fish and chips, plus sausage or pie and chips. Mushy peas, curry sauce and gravy go on the side.

Do you do anything other than fish?

Yes: sausage and chips or pie and chips. Tell us roughly how many to expect.

Can you serve children?

Yes, children are easy to cater for. Tell us how many children, and we’ll include them in the plan.

When should evening food go out?

Whenever suits your day. After the first dance is the most popular time.

Where will the van go at our venue?

That is up to your venue, but close to the party is best. Send us a photo of the spot.

Food your guests will love

Cod and chips

Cod and chips is the meal most people picture when they think of a chip shop. Fried to order in the van, it goes out hot and crisp.

Pie and chips

For a heartier option, there’s pie and chips, perfect with gravy.

A chip van compared with other options

Next to a cold buffet, a chip van serves hot food fresh from the fryer, and nothing sits out drying up. Most vans have a minimum charge, since getting the van there costs the same however many eat. We will tell you up front.

Why Worthing hosts choose us

  • We cover Worthing and the whole of West Sussex
  • Fish and chips fried fresh on site
  • Served hot, straight from the hatch
  • Cod, haddock, sausages and pies

Read our prices page and what a fish and chip van costs.

Can’t we just order from the chip shop?

You could do a chip-shop run for everyone yourself, but it rarely works for a crowd. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. A van fries it right there, so it’s crisp.

Deep-frying for lots of people at home is risky: big pans of hot oil, children and garden parties do not mix. Leave the frying to a van built for it.

How the day works

It is a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up where we’ve agreed, and cook and serve without fuss. In Worthing, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, which means evening fish and chips is frequently served in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 4:00pm.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and roughly how many.
  2. Show us where the van would go, and we will confirm it works.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm the arrival time and serving time.
  4. We park, open the hatch and start frying for your guests.
  5. Last portion served, we tidy up and head off.

Preparing for the day

  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Think about a gazebo by the van in case of rain
  • Ensure the van can get in

For planners, venues and organisers

Parks, greens and streets generally need permission for a catering van. Ask the council or landowner early.

For big groups, the service window matters, so we can plan how to keep the queue short. Sending people up in groups helps.
