Fish and chip van hire in The Brents

About our fish and chip van hire in The Brents

If the van can park there, we can fry there: a drive, a car park, a yard, a showground or a firm lawn in and around The Brents. We serve cod and chips, sausage and chips and gravy, and typical bookings are for garden get-togethers and big birthdays.

In and around The Brents, homes and village halls are common choices. If access is tight, we will plan around it. We serve from the hatch, so it is hot and generous, and service is quick once we are up and running.

Fish and chip van hire around The Brents

The Brents is about 1 mile north-east of Faversham, in Kent. Around The Brents, we park wherever there’s level, firm ground. We serve all 922 towns and villages in Kent. We serve events right across the region, from The Brents to Canterbury (9 miles away).

Thinking of using Oare Meadow? Parks generally need the owner’s permission, frequently the council’s, before a catering van can park or trade. Nearby historic houses include Belmont House and Gardens (3.9 miles south-west). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on vehicles and caterers early.

We take the van to events all over ME13. From Ham Road, Back Lane and Quay Lane or a nearby road, we can park up and fry there. Organising for someone else?

If your event is in a public place, such as a park or a street, check what permission you need first. The council or landowner will tell you what they need.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Questions from The Brents

Is The Brents close to London?

About 44 miles from central London.

What’s the nearest station to The Brents?

Faversham station, about 0.6 miles south of the centre.

Is there something for children?

Of course. Sausage and chips is a favourite with children. Include children in your numbers.

Is a chip van good for a large crowd?

Often, yes. Tell us your numbers and how long you have for food, and we will tell you honestly how service will work.

What does the van need?

Less than you might think: a hard surface or firm, dry grass, with a clear way in. If in doubt, send a photo.

How do you handle allergies?

Tell us about allergies when you book, and we will tell you what’s in each item and what we can offer.

Is grass a problem?

That depends on the weather and the ground. Tell us about it when you enquire, and we will advise.

Cod or haddock?

We serve cod and haddock; we will agree the choice when we quote.

Allergies and dietary needs

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Plan something for guests whose needs we cannot meet
  • Put bins and napkins by the van
  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs

Keep the menu short and the queue moves quickly.

Put the menu up by the hatch so people decide while they wait.

Occasions we serve in The Brents

It needs no kitchen, so it’s at home in car parks, yards and fields where other catering struggles.

In The Brents and nearby, the van turns up at all sorts of events. Popular bookings include:

  • Village fêtes and school fairs
  • Company team days
  • Christmas parties
  • Garden parties and summer get-togethers

School fairs and fundraisers, for a school such as Davington Primary School, can book the van as a food stall.

What your quote should include

  • How many hours the van serves
  • When payment is due
  • The van’s size and access needs
  • What happens if the event is cancelled or moved

How to compare vans

Should I sort the food myself?

Ordering in from a local chip shop is an option. Large orders are slow, and the food cools in the bags. A van cooks in front of your guests instead.

Doing the food yourself saves money, but the host ends up running around. With a fish and chip van, you get hot food without the work.

A closer look at the menu

Cod and chips

For many people, cod and chips is the definitive version. Cooked fresh at the hatch, it goes out hot and crisp.

Haddock and chips

Haddock is a little sweeter than cod, with a finer, firmer flake. In the north and in Scotland, haddock is the classic.

How it works

Serving is straightforward: everything is handed over hot from the hatch, and people can eat where they like. When service is finished, we pack up and leave the pitch tidy. Around midsummer it stays light in The Brents until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:50pm, the van and the queue need lighting.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We check the date and where the van will park, then send a quote.
  3. Timings and the van’s spot are agreed in advance.
  4. We cook to order on the day for your guests.
  5. Everything goes out hot from the hatch, and we pack up afterwards.

Getting ready for the day

  • A lit spot if service runs after dark
  • Access wide and high enough for the van

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before you book.
