Wedding fish and chip van in Cosham, fried fresh

Evening wedding food from a fish and chip van is a favourite. By nine o’clock, guests are hungry again, and fish and chips from the hatch is exactly what they want. For seaside-themed weddings and relaxed, informal receptions, we can cook sausage and chips, cod and chips and mushy peas and more.

In Cosham, a local ceremony and a marquee reception is a lovely, personal choice. The van parks on a firm spot nearby for the evening. Tell us about access to the field or garden. We cook inside the van, right where your guests are, and the food reaches them hot and crisp.

What happens on the day

We don’t cook ahead. Each portion is battered and fried as it is ordered, which is why it tastes like it does at the seaside. Golden-hour photos in Cosham at midsummer come around 9:20pm, so the van can serve before or after your sunset photos. Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 7:10pm in late September.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check access for the van and quote.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. Fish goes into the batter and straight into the fryer, to order.
  5. Service is straight from the hatch, then we pack up.

Before we arrive

  • Get permission for the van from the venue
  • Have a level parking spot ready
  • Arrange somewhere dry for the queue

Getting married in Cosham?

Planning photos in Alexandra Park? It’s worth checking the park’s rules first. Within reach of Cosham are historic houses such as Warblington Castle (4.4 miles east). If your reception is at a historic house or estate, ask early about its rules on caterers and vehicles. The sea is within about 5 miles, perfect for a seaside-themed wedding. We will think about shelter from sea breezes.

Weddings anywhere in PO6, PO3 and PO2 start with a parking spot for the van. From Dean Road, Park Lane and Elgin Road or a nearby road, we can park up and fry there. For event organisers in Cosham

Having the party at home? Send a photo of where the van would park, and we will let you know if the van will fit.

Organising a club, school or community event in Cosham? Fish and chips is a reliable crowd-pleaser. Tell us about the event and we’ll take it from there.

Can’t we just order from the chip shop?

Ordering from a local shop? Call ahead and collect at the last minute. For a crowd, a van is typically simpler.

Collecting fish and chips for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s hard work. Long waits and a drive home mean food arrives lukewarm and soggy. With a van, it’s fried on the spot.

About the food

Cod and chips

Cod and chips is the meal most people picture when they think of a chip shop. Fried to order in the van, it is hot, crisp and generous.

Curry sauce

Chip-shop curry sauce is a mild, slightly sweet British classic, perfect with chips or a sausage.

What affects the price in Cosham

There’s nothing hidden: the quote reflects:

  • The minimum booking
  • The menu and how many choices
  • Peak dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Service time

Larger groups normally cost less per head, because the van, travel and set-up cost much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

What to tell us

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • Where the van would park
  • The date and time of the event
  • Allergies and diets you know about
  • Expected numbers

Each quote is put together for your wedding. Give us your date first, and we’ll check availability right away.

Is a fish and chip van right for your wedding?

Bacon rolls and pizza are popular evening choices too. A chip van gives a more filling, proper meal that guests remember. Travel, tolls and charges such as ULEZ can affect the price, so tell us exactly where your wedding is.

Why book our van in Cosham

  • A menu almost everyone likes
  • A quote that spells everything out
  • Quick service from the hatch
  • The classic sides: peas, curry sauce and gravy

Read our prices page or what a fish and chip van costs.

Diets, allergies and planning

We need to know about dietary needs and allergies in advance, and we’ll be straight with you about what’s possible. To get it right:

  • Plan something for guests we can’t cater for
  • Confirm the van can park at the venue
  • Put bins near the van
  • Ask about dietary needs on the invitation

Your venue coordinator or a nominated friend can let us know if things run late, so the food is still fresh.

Think about cover by the hatch for wet evenings.

FAQs for Cosham

How far is Cosham from London?

About 62 miles from central London, and well within our area.

We are gathering after a service at Church of St Philip: can you come?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby where the van can park. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Do you do evening food for weddings?

Evening food is exactly what we do. We’ll agree a serving time around your running order.

Which areas do you serve?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

How long will the queue be?

A short menu and staggered groups keep things moving. Tell us your timings and we will advise.

Does every evening guest need to eat?

That depends on your day. Most couples plan for most of their evening guests, not all.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We clear the van’s area after service. Tell us where bins can go for people’s paper and trays.

Can you park near the barn?

Typically, with the venue’s agreement and firm ground. We’ll agree the spot in advance.

What the van needs

A good parking spot makes the whole thing easier. We look for:

  • A lit spot if service runs after dark
  • Flat, firm ground for the van
  • A route in without tight gates or low branches

Not sure about the spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before you book.
