Details that help

To check availability and price, we need:

  • A picture of the space and the way in
  • The spot you have in mind for the van
  • Your date and serving time
  • The venue or postcode

It’s easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and serving time. We will send a clear quote that says what’s included.

About our corporate fish and chip catering in Bodiam

A Fish Friday treat, an end-of-project lunch or a summer team day, the van makes the day feel special. Typical bookings include workplace fundraising days and shift teams at depots and warehouses, with pie and chips, haddock and chips and cod and chips.

Near Bodiam, workplaces can be far from shops, which makes a chip van a real treat. We keep the menu short: fewer choices means fresher food and shorter queues.

What happens on the day

We arrive in good time before you want to eat, park the van and get the fryers going. Your staff can wander over to the hatch as soon as we open. Summer events after work in Bodiam have light until about 9:15pm; in late May, sunset is around 8:45pm.

  1. First, tell us about your staff event.
  2. We check the date and where the van will park, then send a quote.
  3. We agree timings, access and the parking spot.
  4. On the day, we park up and fry fresh for your staff.
  5. We serve from the hatch, then leave the pitch tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Plan a bit of cover near the hatch if rain is likely
  • Keep space clear for staff at the hatch
  • Get permission for the van from the venue

Takeaway run or book a van?

A DIY buffet works for small groups. For bigger numbers, a van makes life easier, and you get to enjoy the day.

If you do order from a chip shop, ring well ahead and collect as close to eating time as you can. For anything more than a handful of people, a van is normally the easier option.

About the food

Sausage and chips

Sausage and chips is the go-to for anyone who isn’t a fish fan, especially with curry sauce.

Gravy

Chips and gravy is a favourite in the north and the Midlands, and it is lovely with a pie.

Bodiam questions

Do you come to venues in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for vehicles; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.

How far is Bodiam from London?

Roughly 44 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

What if we only have street parking?

Only in a legal space, or with the council’s permission. Check with your council first.

What happens if it rains?

Rain doesn’t stop the fryers: the cooking is inside the van. Staff will appreciate cover near the hatch.

Which areas do you serve?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

Do you need power or water?

A suitable spot for the van and permission to park there. Mention any power or water available and we will take it from there.

Do you work around shifts?

Yes, with the shift pattern in advance. We will plan it with you.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We clear the van’s area after service. Let us know about bins for staff.

Organising for someone else?

Planning an event for a club, school or charity in Bodiam? Fish and chips is a reliable crowd-pleaser. Tell us about the event and we will take it from there.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Why fried-to-order beats a buffet

Taking the team out for a meal means booking, travel and time away from site. A van comes to you. The date matters too: peak summer weekends and Christmas party Fridays book up first. It is worth asking early.

Why us?

  • All the chip-shop extras
  • Works on wet days as well as sunny ones
  • Everything cooked to order at your event
  • We cover Bodiam and the whole of East Sussex

What the van needs

Plenty of places work for the van, but a few things matter:

  • A level, firm spot the van can drive onto
  • Light near the van and the queue for evening service
  • Permission from the venue or landowner for the van

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.

From the hatch

  • Staff lunches
  • Mushy peas
  • Pie and chips
  • Sausage and chips
  • Haddock and chips
  • Cod and chips

Looking after everyone

With a little notice, diets are easier to plan for. We suggest:

  • Flag any coeliac staff
  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Check with facilities where the van can park
  • Ask staff to pre-order

A quick message to staff when the van opens helps, and stagger departments if you can.

A few tables or benches outside make it a proper break.

  • Fried fresh to order in the van at your event
  • Cod, haddock and chips, sausages and pies
  • The van comes to you: homes, venues, workplaces and fields
  • Served at the time you choose, from the hatch
